keep a lookout for Custom Acoustics, J&D, Maestro, Takamine, Fina, Cort guitars! They're good brands to start out with, you could take a walk around peninsula, excelsior, bras brasah area and get a rough idea of what you want. I suggest you go for a solid top, a bare minimum, as you'll probably be tired of a laminated one as your skills improve over time, solid tops sound better when aged overtime, so as you play more of your guitar, it will sound nicer :) CHEERS!

or u can wait for the year end sale before making a purchase. And yea i'd recommend getting a solid top.. Worth the little extra money spent

Would you be planning on an Electro-Acoustic or only an acoustic guitar? Yamaha, Maestro has some really good ones. Cort is a good brand too. You might wanna head by Bras Basah or Peninsula to take a look first. I bought my acoustic guitar at Maestro, the people are pretty nice.

For steel strings and nylon strings well, usually steel strings are for acoustic guitars and nylon for classical.Steel strings well steel hurts yur fingers but great for strumming. For Nylon strings less painful on fingers but its meant for plucking rather than strumming.
