hmm.. it depends on wat kind of music u wanna play... if you're into blues/jazz u can get a strat for its versatitlity.. but if ure more into rock/metal u can get les paul copy.. basically try to get the stuff new.. but wats impt is tat u like the feel of the guitar.. otherwise there's no pnt in buying it 8) hope tat helps!

I guess i'm interested in learning old school rock.

thanks. i'm looking at the epiphone special II pack going for $469 at sweelee. what do you guys think about that. Or would I get a better deal if i buy the amp, guitar and stuff separetely?

you would get a better deal buying second hand... :) a good starter to me would be the yamaha 112... a marshall MG15-CDR to go along with it sounds good to me...

dude...i dun think u would wanna go with epiphone special.. i think u shud better go for 2nd hand les paul standard or cutom..lots of people are selling them.. its ok to go with 2nd hand dude...juz maybe u can ask someone who knows more abt guitar to follow u when trying out this stuffs..u got to feel the neck, check the electronic, e frets, string height etc...u can also have them check at shops like luther or davis after buying them..2nd hand are good deals too if u wait..well those pros started out with 2nd hands too dude..

anyway ibanez guitars are good too man...u could go into metal, rock, blues etc...its quite versatile..ask marty friedman..hehe..

well this are juz my opinion dude...there are people out there who might be more knowledgeable on this things..thank u.

thanks all. Rufus, i checked out the prices for the stuff you listed. thats like 590, which way exceeds my budget of 450. i may consider that for my 2nd guitar/amp.

from what i have gathered, i could get a craftsman lp and a Behringer GM-108. any opinions on that?

the GM108 is the hybrid tube / solid state amp right >? from behringer. i m not really an amp person but i think u should know this. tube amps need changing every year as tubes worn out. i was told this by an amp tech. u might wanna get a decent solid state amp first before moving on. the vox pathfinder 15 or marshall CDR 15 are good stuff u might wanna look at

My friend used to have a Behringer Gm-108..he say its quite bad and dont really like it ....

from what i know Behringer GM-108 is solid state, while Behringer AC108 Tube is tube. no? just reading off luther website.

vox pathfinder 15 and marshall CDR 15 seems too expensive cos that means i would have a buy a much cheaper guitar. i guess i'll get a amp thats <$150.

hm i think i'm either getting a craftsman lp cos i dunno anybody who can go with me to check out 2nd hand guitars. and i dont want to get cheated. just waiting for a sale or one of these shops.

hmmz , wait for december ? swee lee usually has a year end sale

getting a good amp is 1/2 way to getting a decent tone out of that guitar

hey dude, yupe.. what i meant was to get it second hand... haha... you can get a 112 for about 200-250 and a marshall MG for 100-150... :D that would cost you about say 400 max which is what you budgeted for..

get what i got from davis. avion 1(lp copy) together with the marshall cdr15. that shd cost you exactly 450. if u can get someone to remove the pickup covers

really? wats the avion orignally priced at? and wat are pickup covers?

is that a package theyre offering all the time, or do i have to bargain?

Correction.. my old amp was the Behringer Gx108, not GM108.
Seriously, for your budget look at one of those Smarvos at Ranking Sports or Music Theme. I have one and am quite pleased with it.

the avion cost 250 amp was 199. pickup covers are the chrome or gold or watever they use that are put to "cover" the pickups for aesthetics
