Need advice changing of pickups

I am using a Epiphone G-400 and would like to change my pickup for better song quality. Any recommendation? I thinking of changing Air Norton for my neck and Evolution Bridge DP159 for my bridge. Is it suitable for my guitar?

The pickups you mentioned will probably be an improvement over the stock pickups. However, if you are using a small practice amp like a marshall MG15 or peavey blazer type of amp, you may still not be satisfied. The pickups will set you back more than $300 including installation.

I have a suggestion - maybe you should consider upgrading the amp to something better. The Roland Modelling amps provide a wide variety of useful sounds for not much more than the pickups.

i have a 30watt amp. So you think I still need to change my Amp or change my Pickup. But is my guitar compatible for the change? I dun intend to get new guitar as i like the feel of the fretboard. By the way for Epip G-400 it is a solid body guitar semi hollow-body or?

In the first place, what do you feel is lacking?

Most of the time i will be playing on the lead thats y i wanna have different feel different effect. My current suitation is that the wire of my pickup in my guitar has loosen and further the pickup is weak and can't produce loud artificial harmonics. And also I wan clean sound for some slower songs.

You could try a Dimarzio Air Classic in the neck and Air Zone in the bridge, good compromise pickups for both clean and heavy styles. As for making it more aggressive there's always EQ.

Sometimes the wattage on the amp is not reflective of its performance. May I ask what amp you are using?

Laney. Wat amp do you recommend?

any amp with high gain would be good, Peavey Bandit for instance. of course there are other boutique names you can try but don't dismiss the small players, they can be lethal...

a note on the Humbucker Fr Hell: it's one of the best humbuckers to split, thrives as a neck unit.

if i were you, i'd invest in amp first, because it makes a diff...

IMO the Epiphone G-400 had a mellow tone even in bridge position.
R u looking for a fwd sounding tone?
There r many route that u can take that may change the characteristics of ur tone.
I dislike the idea of getting a larger amp, unless is a tuber,
just think what would you do if u had a 300 ++ money with u?
Amp, pickups, or mayb some pedals or effects...

there r guys u used stock pickups but generate an unbelieveable tone...

Do you mean that even if I change my pickup there isn't much difference? I had a ZOOM GFX-5 Multi-Effect. I am looking at clean sound for neck and more distorted sound for the bridge cause when playing some of the heavier songs, the artificial harmonics that produce from my G-400 sounds funny. Not thick enough. I had an Ibanez as well that produce very good sound but i dun like the fretboard that is y thinking of changing the pickup for my G-400

1.AMP
no, higher wattage doesn't mean higher gain. the reason why i believe a slightly bigger amp would help is because of the dual volume principal, which most bigger amp feature. many pros prefer amps with master volume (in addition to the channel volume) because if you turn this up, it acts as a boost for the signal. ultimately, you get more gain/ drive.

people who think bigger amps are actually unnecessary- maybe they have other methods of boosting their signals, maybe they'd like to share it here?

2. PICKUPS
i'm of the opinion that pickups will only help if you signals are ultimately processed well- which is the job of the amp. if you buy a $5K PRS with the best after-market humbuckers in it, but still plugs it thru a small 10W amp- you're wasting your time...

3.IBANEZ
if you like the Ibanez brand name & thinks the neck is too thin for your comfort, chances are, you've not tried the Ibanez SZ which has a significantly thicker neck profile. it also features a set neck which helps sustain... i'm not saying this IS the ultimate guitar for you, but it's definitely an option for a different tone. i'm not an Ibanez salesman either, i don't get guitars for free by saying this...
