guitar > crybaby 535Q > korg dt-10 > Boss ge-7 eq > Keeley Ts-9 baked > Vox Satchurator > Digitech main squeeze compressor > Line 6 echo park > Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 201

my sound is from the ts-9 driving the satchurator and delay from echo park. amp is on clean

its good to hear a gilbert fan likes it.

hey chicken bonez, thanks man.
yeah when i wrote it, it really stuck and i had to get the song down if not i wouldn't be able to move on from it. haha
btw i kinda like your songs too, it'll be interesting to work with you on something. haha

SUPERMAN!!! Or the JUSTICE LEAGUE... flying together into the sky, and kicking bad guys butts!!! yeah, thats how i felt it sounded like..

great. finally a great self-composed song. nice solos, 2 part guitar harmonies and everything. Just 1 small criticism, u might wan to plan ur song form nicely first. Probably rearrange the form. I find the transistion between sections not very smooth. But ur motif is very catchy to the ear. good job.

Nice stuff! Shades of Cacophony ....hmmm ??

I think if you guys perform it a little more, you'll loosen up more ( I assume you are playing the lead ) . But technically, I think it is great, how I wish I could have half the technique you guys have.

Like the melody, well compose piece , in my opinion.

Rock on!

PS: Nice Axes

haha thanks for the feedback dudes.
really appreciate it. yeah i'm on lead guitar, we were kinda stoned cuz it was 3am when we did the last take and the tapping and all that wasn't clean but we're too tired to do it again. about 10 takes i think. the solo was fully improvised and wasn't written fixed, i found myself playing it differently for every take haha.

as for xLayar, the settings were satch gain at 3-4 o' clock and ts-9 gain at 12-1 o' clock.

will put more up once i get ideas for more material.

Nice piece you have there bro. Btw I keen to know so that i can refer as a guideline, how long b4 u manage attain the current guitar skill you having now? What are you practise routine like, how many hours a day and what you practise?

I've been playing the guitar for nearly 4 years now, entirely self-taught. my practice routine in the 1st year used to be chords and simple songs for about 3 hours a day. 4 days a week. about there la.

2nd year, i discovered scales and how they work in keys. i learnt the pentatonic then. a little about the major and minor scales. learnt the blues, rock and a little metal. learnt how to slide bend and do vibrato. i practiced much more in the 2nd year learning solos and licks, alternate picking ,tapping, legato and palm muting.

in the 3rd year, i had several riffs and techniques down already. i practiced less during this year as i was stagnating. after about 2 months or so. i decided to study modes on my own as nobody around me knew about them or what they were. it took me about 3 months studying and learning how to use them. it was the toughest period. a teacher would have helped alot but i'm cheapskate like that. LOL

From then up till now i've been building up licks for each mode. learning a little sweeps and songs whenever i do a gig. of course theres always the occasional lick or phrase through the years which will catch my ear and i would have no choice but to force myself to learn it because it sounds so damn good. yeah. thats my progress up to date.

Of course there are details i've missed out due to my lack of memory. but basically, effective practice is the way to go. don't linger too long on something you know very well already and keep challenging yourself. thats my theory for improvement.

How he practises may not be the way you want to practise, for a few reasons.

1. What works for him may not work for you.
2. You might be interested in a different style of music.
3. The amount of time you have isn't the same as his, hence you might want to focus more on some and leave out others.
4. Are you sure you want to go through learning all that he has just to achieve his 'level of technique' so to speak?

Ultimately its about what you are hoping to achieve. Don't covet someone else's talent based on the fact that it looks impressive on the outside. You need to discover what your own playing is all about.

What you are saying is true, No worries Futures. I am just getting ideas on how others practise and what they practise on to achieve speed and improvising solo and stuff and so that i can do futher research on the items that Dale has mention above. I ve started guitar late. I am 25 currently self learning, been playing for the past 1 year and a half and I have no luxury of hiring an instructor. So yup just asking around that I can use as a reference. And if you happened to read my post carefully, u will notice that i am asking so that i can use as a "guideline". I "don't covet someone else's talent based on the fact that it looks impressive on the outside", only that I respect how one can be patience to achieve till the level of composing their very own original. Thus I complement dale on doing so.
