now they are called metal, but they were known as Thrash then:

the Big Four:
-Anthrax - among the living, persistence of time
-Metallica - ride the lightning, master of puppets, and justice for all, damage inc EP
-Megadeth - peace sells, but who's buying & so far so good, so what?
-Slayer - south of heaven, seasons in the abyss

others:
-Voivod - nothingface
-Exodus - fabulous disaster, impact is emminent (goofball rhythmn all around)
-M.O.D. - (more goofball rhythmn!)

local:
Ossuary - tight as hell then...

IN..TOO...THE...PIT!!!
hahahhhahha! remember that...
in the pit, in the pit, in the pit, in the pit, INN DAAAA... PITT!!!

btw, Alex Skolnick plays jazz/bebop now, the band is called the Alex Skolnick Trio. they cover classic rock stuff in jazz... ie (Detroit Rock City, No One Like You, Still Loving You, War Pigs) interesting stuff...

definitely Testament! 1 of the best thrash metal bands ever to come from bay area....

my personal fave will be the Disciples of the Watch album from them. Alex Skolnick kicks major ass man even now with his jazz trio, he is still so high up there excelling at what he loved which is music.

Let us pray that there will be a bootleg somewhere of their reunion tour

hahahahhha, and these too:

Death Angel - floric through the park & act III

one of the Thrash bands that can actually sing at that time!

Voivod - Nothingface
Kreator - Enemy Of God
Pantera - ALL
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Testament - The Legacy
Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned, the new one's not bad too

Hell yes! I am very happy indeed somebody has started this topic. I was very much influenced by American thrash, not just from the Bay Area scene though. These are some of the albums from the less obvious bands that I really dig:

1) Wrathcild America – 3D
2) Sacred Reich – American Way / Surf Nicaragua
3) Flotsam & Jetsam – When The Storm Comes Down / Cuatro
4) Forbidden – Twisted Into Form
5) Annihilator – Alice In Hell / Never Neverland / Set The World On Fire
6) Dark Angel – Darkness Descends / Time Does Not Heal
7) Vio-lence – Opressing The Masses
8) Possessed – Seven Churches
9) Armoured Saint – Salvation
10) Defiance – Void Terra Firma
11) Evil Dead – The Underworld
12) Holy Terror – Mind Wars
12) Exhorder – Slaughter In The Vatican
13) Metal Church – Blessing In Disguise
14) Nuclear Assault – Handle With Care / Out Of Order
15) Prong – Cleansing
16) Rigor Mortis – Rigor Mortis
17) Sacrifice – Apocalypse Inside
18) Sadus – Swallowed In Black
19) Suicidal Tendencies – Lights, Camera, Revolution

woww!!! u list is great...

i remember the Sacred Reich song: its a holiday in Cambodia, where the people they dress in black...!!!
and Nuclear Assault: mothersday, mothersday, mothersday...
heheheehhheheh...
and Suicidal Tendencies... more of Crossover but hell, they were great. Rob Trujillo were with them then...

Ah yes, Suicidal was more of a crossover band, but their thrash influence was still pretty apparent. I think Trujillo debuted with them on this album. Everybody who only recognise him from his recruitment to Metallica or from Ozzy's band, should check this album out. He really shines on this album, the bass playing is just fuckin' stellar. Check out the song Send Me Your Money. Slap bass baby!

yes, he is great! he then proceed to form the Infectious Groove with Mike Muir and others players from the band Mordred. heheheehhe... i nearly said Infectious Maggots!!! that's another great band from KL. grind/electro/rock/punk/noise/industrial/thrash mash...
