My Bloody Valentine

As we all know, they recently got back together and that is almost the best thing to happen in 2008.

I started listening to them in 2006 and i was not expecting them to get back together again. So hearing the sounds played live now is definitely something euphoric.

According to various sources, Kevin Shields is busy doing up linear notes and such for remastered versions of Isn't Anything and Loveless. However, it is reported that there will not be any bonus materials included. But i would like to hear how a remastered version of the album will sound like. As i think the 'lo-fi' quality of the current presses is an integral part of their sound and i will like to know whether the remastering will affect the whole feel.

I remember them... ;)

They, together with Ride and Curve were big with the "indies" crowd back in the early 90's. I started listening to those 3 when a school mate, also stand-in bassist for NunSex introduced me to them in '92. Though i don't actually "get-it" then... My ears were more attuned to early Mudhoney and Soundgarden then... If you don't already, check out local band "the Pagans", which i feel is the closest local incarnate...

man i'd kill to hear Loveless performed live in its entirety! Remastering should be good as long as Kevin Shields is involved. If you haven't already, listen to Japancakes' cover of Loveless.

I love it when you ask people what 'shoegaze' is, they tell you to look up My Bloody Valentine.

Astreal is Singapore's own My Bloody Valentine!

haha maybe that's because MBV is _the_ shoegazing band...so many bands tried to copy them it's not even funny. I still remember hearing Loveless for the first time when I was a teenager and I wouldn't give that experience back for anything in the world. to anyone reading this, if you haven't heard of MBV or Loveless, I kind of admire you because you're in for a hell of an experience.

My favorite song from them is Only Shallow. Those haunting vocals, the wall of guitars.. Ah the epitome of awesome music..

yeah. so many 'new-gazers' now. however some are pretty good whereas some are merely riding on MBV's wave. also, the first time i heard Loveless, it is unlike anything i have heard before. so many layers of sounds that slowly uncover itself with each listen. i'm sure you know about Shields's "mental madness" while creating Loveless because of their various layers involved.
