Washburn D46SCE :

Body - sides - head stock veneer : Madagascar rose wood .

Top : One piece Alaskan spruce .

Neck : 5 piece ( last piece to be counted on it is the rosewood head stock ) mahogany .

Bridge & fretboard : Solid Madagascar rosewood

With 10 years on her :

When she got home Rose sat in front of a stereo speaker with sound running on it for over a year 24 hours non stop from a really nice stereo system , all kinds of genres from The Classics - The Blues / Rock - Jazz - Ethnic you name it . Hardly picked up that first year I bought it in the year 2001 ( made 2000 ) when I got her in April of that year . Had a hard time getting a good clean sound , took a year more ( two in total ) to get " it " going good :

You need a refret for that guitar.

What's up Relinquisher69 :

Tell me something I don't know man :)

The whole point was to show when it is almost time to do that , it was really a lot of fun wearing those frets down over these past 12+ years on her heh heh heh . I got it brand new in 2001 , my first new guitar ever .

Thus far she still plays beautifully - I get nothing but complements from those who listen to her sing as I play with her and those who I let play her and make her sing . She is loved by many as she is . As I see it she has about another year or more before she needs " attention " :)

This is what 4 hours a day average 5 days a week does to a guitar when your serious about learning how to play . Sometimes I practice on her all day into the night she plays so nicely . That averages out @ 500 hours a year and to date about 6000 hours at least on it .
I use no picks on her or my electric , That wear on the sound hole is from my finger nails .

The brass shows it's age here .

I made my own bone bridge :

So what do you play on ? Electric only or both acoustic and electric ?

Nice to see a well seasoned guitar. Sand paper can only do so much to achieve a "relic" look. A lot of people find it hard to appreciate such natural wear on a guitar.

Even for used guitars, a lot of people expect the condition to be like it was when it left the factory. It's kinda odd when people pay a lot more for a relic-ed guitar when they can purchase a naturally relic-ed guitar for a lot lesser. Oh well.

being a student, time for playing guitars is always < time for studying. such an unfortunate circumstance isn't it :( ?

One must find the balance between what they like to do and what they have to do . If you can do this , then your life will find a way to make it all come together .

The Wanna bees are the type that seek the worn look to impress others by hopefully thinking that the old worn appearance on the guitar will make people think they have been playing a long time and are great because of this false image . My take is , a guitar purchase for the first time ( or anytime ) is like the first steps of a long journey . To some the journey's significance is over looked , when in fact the journey is half the fun of the experience if one sees it unfold . I like this old expression :

" Getting there is half the fun "

Thank you for the compliment on " Rose " , the older she gets the better she plays and sounds , just like a good woman :) . At first when you get a new guitar , you pamper her , make sure she's always safe from harm and not let anyone touch her who is not a real guitar player . That's how I was with her till I was talking to a friend guitarist who I have admired a long time ( He's a real pro since the 60s ) and he mentioned that every guitar has a character and the dings and scratches are what give the guitar it's own mojo - power - look , and that has to be individually made not bought in the guitar .

Yes your right about some people who just don't get it , everything has to be brand new and spotless - These by definition are

" weird people "

plain and simply put . They seem to me as the types who look at the surface and never dig into something/anything deeply .

My days of being a student are long gone , I miss the academic world . I love spending time on a college campus and listening to all the buzz going on and maybe join into a spirited debate or two .

I am in southern California , studied most of my time here in the desert of the Coachella Valley and San Diego and a year in southern Utah State @ Cedar City . I was a double major with Sociology and Poly sci and minored in phys.Ed .

What is your major field of study ? And where ?

That Gibson Dove is really something else , what's the asking price if I may inquire ?
