Hi all, putting this as a feeler out there as I'm not sure if I want to keep this, but I will let it go if I can get a good price on it. Reason for this is because I'm seeing myself as more of a Telecaster player of late and could use the extra funds to help with schooling.
Ok, down to business. What I have here is a 2011 Gibson Les Paul Traditional 1960 in a Tea Burst finish, a model exclusive only to the US retailer Sam Ash. Specs are as follows:
- Cherry red weight-relieved Mahogany back
- A-grade plain Maple Top
- Cherry red Mahogany neck
- Rosewood fretboard with trapezoid inlays
- Gibson '57 Classic(neck) and '57 Classic Plus(bridge) pickups
- Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop bar
- Kluson Deluxe machine heads
- Amber top hat knobs
- Blank truss rod cover
- Cream pickguard with "1960" script
- Set up for regular .10s
More specs can be found here.
This line is basically like the older Les Paul Classic model, except with more vintage appointments. One thing to note is that the serial number on this piece puts it as a pre-raid guitar, so even though the official spec-sheet on the Gibson site lists it as having a Baked Maple fretboard, this one actually has a rosewood board plus it's a single solid piece, not like the layered rosewood boards Gibson is currently using. I have also kept this fretboard well-maintained and moisturised with the Dunlop Guitar Fingerboard kit.
Some mods were performed on this guitar:
- Monster Relic aged amber pickup selector tip
- Monster Relic aged amber top hat knobs
- Custom 500k CTS True Vintage Taper(TVT) pots
- NOS Russian mil-spec PIO caps, .022pf each
- 50s wiring
The Monster Relic parts were more for vanity's sake in order to make the guitar look more traditional, but the mods on the circuitry really makes this guitar shine. The CTS TVT pots are extremely responsive; way better than the RS superpots. The NOS Russian PIO caps come with a tight tolerance(+/- 5%) and really delivers that creamy, organic tone when you roll back on your neck humbucker's tone control. The 50s wiring is a much better alternative to the treble-bleed cap as the highs are much more naturally preserved when you roll back the volume. In terms of overall performance, this guitar utterly trounced a VOS '57RI Les Paul Custom, and that was BEFORE the mods! Here are some pics to give you an idea on what it looks like:
Of course, ALL original parts will be included in the sale if this guitar. That consists of the stock pickup selector tip, knobs, pots, caps(Orange Drops) and grounding plate(still wired up in case you want to drop it straight in). The guitar will also come with the original Gibson hard case as well as all paraphernalia. I will also the throw in the Dunlop Guitar Fingerboard kit so that you can continue to maintain the guitar's fretboard.
I am open to all offers, but nothing too ridiculous ok? I can be contacted at 9070 9160. Meetups can be anywhere between the East and town area MRT stations. Cheers and thanks for reading!
