hey guys,

im sure many of you own 'Rays, Bongos, sterlings. would love to hear from you guys about what made you guys drawn to this bass in the first place: was it the distinctive look, the tone, company history etc.?

on a side note, im eagerly awaiting my classic sterling.. heh.. GAS ATTACK! :p

mine's not exactly a MM bass but a sterling by MM, the ray 35 but i've tried a ray b4 and no difference IMO. even tried it side by side and nope, no difference spotted.

what i really like about my bass is the tone. punchy, solid bottom with definite notes. The neck is chunky, which is the way i like it and the low B is soul gripping.

I'm not sure whether it's a coincidence but ever since i changed to this bass, there weren't much complains abt my playing except the occasional "you are too loud"

redname i like how you said the low B is soul gripping.. eyeing the possibility of getting a bongo 5 in the future. haha how about in terms of build quality.. is the SBMM series good?

I've got a MM Bongo 4 Dargie Delight II

Awesome tone and versatility.
Nice neck, although I would prefer a faster neck. But it's really fine now.

I've got a MM Stingray 5 HH. Solid built, twangy slap-sound and THE LOOK... so macho man...
the only thing for me, still haven't found the low B sound yet. still looking...

I suck at bass but am a proud owner of a 4 stringer 1982 MM Stingray ... I learnt from a collector in California that mine is a custom made (not sure by who) cos it has a selector for active n passive ... Been with me since 2003 and never looked anywhere else since then ... Really cool bass ... Love the fat bottom ... I work full time in a club and this is a super versatile bass cos we played a little bit of everything from R&B, rock, blues, pop etc .... The bird's eye maple neck is just awesome for my fingers to run around ... I never looked back then and not looking back ever .... Cheerios !!!
