Multi-effects!

First off, I play everything but acoustic, lol. Usually J-rock or Indie. I've been looking for a multi-efx pedal so I was wondering what would be a good investment? I already have a single BOSS MT-2, but I don't wish to invest in a range of individual stomp boxes yet as I'm looking for multi-efx for the convenience of recording.

What I've been eyeing are:
Boss ME-70, mainly for the OSM Preamp and loop function otherwise I'd have gone for ME-50. It's also slightly more compact than those below.
GT-10 or GT-8.. It does seem pretty popular haha. :X
Line 6 PODxt Live, it sounded pretty good for a recording session I once sat in for, but the price range... Line 6's presets are pretty cool too, having used Pod X3 and podfarm once.

Which one would you guys recommend, disregarding the price but rather for the purpose of doing home recording/covers? I could always work OT :P Plus anyone know the current market price for this multi-efx firsthand or where to buy other than Swee Lee?

Thanks!

erm depends how u want to record, if you mic the amp, hmm boss gt 10 with ibanez thermion amp very nice.
If line out through multi effect to me lah, Vox tonelab SE and Boss GT 10 still fail. For me I use software like guitar rig4. I'm going to try tube pre amps soon when I can get the one I want.

Actually thinking of buying something like a Tascam or Presonus 2 channel i/o audio interface so my setup would be pretty small. Guitar> multi-efx> audio interface> laptop. As compact as possible la, also looking for portability but I don't like using softwares. Maybe an amp in between when I chose to mic up, got a Marshall 75 Reverb and SM57 for that, I can't afford anything else or have the room for it.

ok SM57 to mic the amp is so much better than line in into the audio interface. Yes audio interface is a must whether u want to mic or line in. But mic the amp is best for recording. and u have a good mic too. As for distortion usually amp distortion is best, but also see what kind of amp u use. For eg my boss gt 10 into my ibanez toneblaster 65R the distortion is not as good as the distortion from the amp itself. and if I use my gt 10 for other effects like delay and the amp distortion it's not that good either because GT10 colors the tone so it's not good. I think u get a good distortion pedal for your amps if your amps distortion is not good. Then other effects just use the one in your DAW like cubase they have delay reverb those stuff.

Yeah, miking would definitely be best, so far got good sound from miking my small yamaha and roland amps with my distortion pedal using SM57. But I do covers a lot and might want to travel so DAWs or lugging amps around may not be ideal? Since effects for cover songs would surely work better triggered in real time too, IMO. So purely for wanting a good DI sound from a multi-effect provided my audio interface is ok, what would be good? I've narrowed down to the XT Live because of the amp simulations, but the overall controls don't seem very user-friendly compared to everything being laid out in front of you like the ME-70.

Funny coz I sold my UX2 recently which I had owned for 2 years+. Never liked it that much. Like I said, personally don't like softwares for amp or effects simulation. I like the physical flexibility of hardware, sorry. Plus UX1 or 2 needs to be connected to a laptop to be used whereas a multi-effects pedal don't necessarily have to be. I know la, I'm very picky :P Portability is the least of my worries actually. Decent tone, flexibility and user-friendly controls, basically, in that order.
