Hey all, am planning to get an mp3 player. Was thinking of CREATIVE's ZEN MICRO. Nonetheless, my friends have been saying that CREATIVE products don't last, all their earphones either spoil or playlist damn laggy. Should i settle for something else?

Creative has good after sales service , just got an 1 for 1 exchnage for MujoTXFm mp3 player which has some problems after 4 months of using it .

Cheers

I thought the Zen micro was a good quality one. Well, it probably happens to many mp3 players. I know 2 people with experiences of crashed iPods but that's probably from rough handling.

I would recoomend the iPod but kinda expensive. How about the Muvo?

ZEN MICRO definitely surpasses the iPod, that's of course if you don't use Apple computers. Firstly, the fact that WMA files cannot be played on an iPod is a big turn-off. Secondly, the functions of a ZEN MICRO exceeds that of an iPod. Nonetheless, it's so easily spoilt.. CREATIVE products, that is. Well if anyone of you getting products from CREATIVE, check out ebay.com.sg first. The market price for a brand new ZEN MICRO is $399 (5GB), but there's a couple of sellers with brand new unopened MICROS going for less than $300. Now, that's a steal.. =)

wma files. eugh.

how about ACC? yes. iPods rock. mine's a 3rd gen 15gb iPod. really scratched up because it's seen more action than the peeps at orchard towers. it's still holding up strong though. Apple is da bomb diggity.

actually both the zen and ipod use harddisks inside their player. so even if u have never dropped the player and use it for running, there's still a chance of wrecking ur player. Harddisks aren't meant to be brought out running while it's spinning away reading ur data.

if u do running etc, get a Thumbdrive/SD/etc based player.

Been using Nomad Muvo2 4GB since 04. So far no problem..
Cannot compare mine to todays mp3 player though.. Can say that what the market is offering can make one spoil for choice..

Just consider ur budget, ur mp3 collections.. U wouldn't want to buy a small capacity player when U have a humongous collection of mp3 right. An ipod 15gb and above would be great.. Or Creative mp3 player with capacity larger than 5GB..

The choice is urs to make anyway.. Happy shopping :)

I have the Zen Micro (white, ltd. edition with spare battery ;)).

Actually, the headphone socket died after about a week, but they replaced the whole thing no questions asked. Since then, 6 months of hassle free operation. I recommend it.

why dont u try iPod shuffle...its small and good...
assuming that you don't care what order the music is played in.. (I am quite anal - I want to hear entire albums from start to finish). :)

i haf an ipod mini... love it. the thing that prevented me from buying the zen mirco was the design (i think its ugly) and the interface... user friendliness and stuff.

i've got a ipod mini. starting to have some battery problems now.
chose ipod mini cuz zen micro looks weird and i think it looks kinda small?

ipod definetly looks better.

Can give a little bit of detail abt the battery problem that U r experiencing??

Ipod batteries genrally have a short lifespan, the more you charge it, the shorter it lasts. Another problem with the Ipod is itunes + windows, but once this problem is solved, the ipod would be a fun gadget to use. For me, I would choose the ipod mini over the zen micro mainly because of looks. Unless you really need a radio and a voice recorder, go for the ipod. Don't ever go for the new samsung 5gb model, the 1 with colour screen, very unreliable.

Hmmmm.. according to my friend iPod works seamlessly and perfectly with an iBook or an iMac for that matter, and that there's really nothing wonderful about the iPod (other than the looks) when you're using standard Windows PC. I guess people have different opinions i guess, but in the market in Singapore it seems there's only either CREATIVE or APPLE mp3 products, haven't heard of any other brands worth mentioning, hence the limitation to preference... :(

if i'm not wrong, i'm having the first generation ipod which has the 9hr battery life.
extending the battery life is possible.

the battery problem only started recently, i bought mine around march.
i'll have the battery charged for the whole night and next morning i'll get low batts when i'm listening halfway.
when it low batts, the battery bar is always half bar. and it automatically shuts down by itself.

when i try to on it again, sometimes it'll play and the battery bar will be half after a few minutes.
if not, it'll just play a song or so and die there.

now i'm planning to go to the applecare thingy at amk and try to fix it. if not. i'll send apple my ipod and demand a replacement.

:D

the iPod Shuffle can play albums/playlists in order. the switch on the back has 3 positions: Off, Play In Order, Shuffle.
