Might need a pickup change... Need singing tone!

I'm currently using a 90's Yamaha YG1212. Ash body maple/ebony neck. Has Duncan Alternative 8 bridge, JB Junior middle, Cool Rails neck.

Now lets get on to the situation. I love the Cool Rails. It gives enough warmth and bite with my amp settings [PODxt Live Brit-800 - sounds best to me after trying other 'amps' in the POD] whereas the Alternative 8, always has this harshness that cannot be dialed off! There is some 'high end' in there that's kinda piercing that I hate.

So now, I'd like the bridge pickup to be warmer so that it sings during solo but not muddy for rhythm playing [need it to go 'jrengg jrengg jrengg for chords]. I'm a fusion player playing mostly around hard rock settings. Just love mixing different elements especially jazzy lines into hard rock. Not metal though. I quit metal.

Tonal references:
Shawn Lane - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Yf5eNVik_E Fantastic tone! So... Human!

Taeyeon of SNSD - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyq3jOR9GNY Yes! A singer as my tone reference! Like Shawn Lane, I want to make my lead lines as 'human' as possible. What's better than to have an awesome singer as a reference? Taeyeon has a very nice 'tone' [ok la voice]. It's warm and doesn't sound harsh when she hits the high notes. Just love her! Forever SNSD!

I went to Duncan's website and used the 'Tone Finder' or whatever-it-is-called and it suggested to have a Custom Custom while Dimarzio suggested Andy Timmon's model. So, what are your recommendations?

I guess you should go for the single coils andy timmons uses, i kinda like it too.
Nice crunch when you play it through an OD pedal but it can also give you warm lead sounds.

oh sorry, misread your post. oh then may i suggest you go for dimarzio tone zone. Really nice pup with warm and fat sound and can give a very 'human-like' singing quality. using it for about 2 years now and i love it. cleans up very nicely as well, sounds almost like a strat when you roll the volume knkob back. just amazing.

since ur using mostly SD pickups, i think sticking to SD on the same guitar might work better. so from SD i'd recommend the JB. similar to the tone zone, but SD version lol

Duncans with a rounded top end voicing:

-'59
-Alnico II Pro

you might want to supplement some EQ output for your guitar signals before these go to the amp. also, whichever POD unit one uses, be informed that the manufacturer always has excessive treble in their default patches.
