Can any keyboard be used as a midi controller ? the keyboard i am using is the yamaha DJX which has midi in and out. connected to my EMU sound card. i want to use my DJX to control softwares like traker Dj . Also what programs should i use to use my DJX as a midi controller to play sounds from my PC ? thanks guys

Any keyboard with MIDI output can be used as a midi controller.

U can use any software sequencer host that supports VST instrument plugins to play sounds from your PC

Is this your Keyboard?

It stated MIDI IN/OUT. Mean, get 2 MIDI cable connect it to your PC.

At your PC, you can buy a gameport cable which enable you to plugin to our PC board where the game port is located. The Gameport cable does have MIDI connector.

If not, you can get a MIDI SPORT 2x2 from M-Audio which is USB connected to your PC.

From there, you can load your sequencer and select the MIDI In/Out. And you can load in your VST and use ur keyboard to trigger the keyboard keys as what Elecktronic_Music_Lab mentioned.
