Dear all jazz and music improvisation lovers,
We are glad to present to you our first 2014 Music Improvisation Collective (MIC) session will be held on Feb 16th, Sunday, 7pm-830pm at the library@esplanade.
What is Music Improvisation Collective?
We aim to nurture a love for music improvisation by building a community of music improvisers.
In this session, we will share about the golden era of jazz swing: the era of Jazz Big Band. This will be followed by our jazz jam for beginners and early intermediate lovers of jazz. Come make a date with us on Feb 16th!!

FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO DO A JAZZ JAM:
Once again, for those who wish to jam that evening, please sign up at our website here - hurry, spaces are limited and there is a closing date!
FAQ:
Who is suitable to attend this session?
Anyone who loves jazz, is curious of jazz, music improvisation and want to experience 'live' jazz in a warm and friendly atmosphere
Is it free?
Absolutely free.
I don't have any musical background, but I like jazz. Should I go?
Most definitely. We will share with you about different topics and issues of Jazz as a musical genre. There is also an audience-participation segment.
I can play a little bit of jazz, but I am not good, just a little. Should I go?
Most definitely. In fact, you should jam with us 'live' that night. Yes, even if you do it with just one hand and playing arpeggios, using simple tunes. We want to nurture a community of people who just want to try and improvise in a stress-free environment. There are many venues for professionals, but we are here for the rest of us!
I am quite experienced in jazz and can already improvise quite comfortably. Should I go?
Yes! Come and support this local community, encourage the beginners (we all need encouragement!), come and say hello to us..and if there is time at the end, maybe we could do a impromptu jam too!
Warm regards,
The MIC Team
