Marshall JCM 800 with Tubescreamer

has anyone tried the ibanez tubescreamer through a marshall jcm 800?
i tried it but it was thru podxt, but i like the hi-gain distortion sound.

im sure by using the actual pedal and amp head, the sound will be so much better.

but jamming studios in sg dont really use jcm800 rite? ok if they have then i dont know.

so if anyone knows which studios use the jcm800,or where i can get the jcm 800 amp head,do share.

thank u!

Maybe u can be more specific as to why u are drawn to the jcm800? Wat music genre u looking to do with it? The jcm 800 is not a hi-gain amp at all, that is why many ppl used to hotrod that amp. It is also the reason why they came out with a jcm900 to give more gain than the 800.

I used to own the 2204 which is the 50w amp, and you got to play it really loud (Master and preamp need to be around 1 o'clock) to hit the sweet spot. This is usually the case with older marshalls, n its just too loud so i sold it as i didnt like how it sounds at lower levels.

Using a marshall vintage modern now, which sounds great at lower levels. U can try the jvm also, get a nice marshall crunch at bedroom levels. U will find subversion's reviews on those 2 amp extremely useful if interested.

Not sure abt any jam rooms with the jcm800.

Balls to the wall marshall tone?

im using my 36watt Ceriatone Trainwreck for that. Getting very good results.
with a nice lespaul ... man ... its heaven. Argh.. i need to go home and play some guitar

Nothing major except changing some tubes for preference sake, and bias it hotter. There is a dedicated forum where the builder himself is extremely helpful. But he cant comment on mods hehe.

I noe there are some ppl who actual mod the 2 dif range of the amp to make it 2 channels with the same master volume. Goose, have u come across any mods to this amp? I'm pretty happy with it stock alr, but......... hehe

I'm loving this amp alot for the kt66 (More like a jtm45) except its too EXPENSIVE TO REPLACE.

BTW, i had tried a few booster pedals and didnt have gd results. In fact i nv had gd results with marshall n a booster. It either somes very thin and sharp, or over compressed n saturated in a bad way. So is there any magic u can do goose? Im not looking to get the gain from the pedal, just drive the tube for additional mojo (old fashion style).

Sorry to go abit off topic

Preamp mods to get more gain is easy but to keep noise from creeping in is not that easy...needs mucho tweako!

You can try a clean boost (transistor based) to give those tubes a good kick.

Btw i oso don't want to go on about mods here ...so gimme a buzza;)
