I first read about this guy's project (koko) on drumshed, and now there's another project going on at the PDF.
Very cool stuff.

Here's some progress of a stave shell snare i'm building for my dad. It's my first one so i guess it's going ok so far. It's red oak and poplar b/c those are some woods i had laying around to use. I dont have access to a lathe so i made a rotisserie to turn the drum on over a router. It worked pretty well. I'm only to the point of having turned it and added some polyurethane to it, no bearing edges or anything else yet. I think i'm going to go with wood hide a hoops on it and brass hardware. Oh yeah, its 14x7.
