I am just lost as to why...major pentatonic is used for improvisation when u can actually use major....

Isn't major pentatonic 2 notes short of major scale?

other than the sound of major pentatonic feel(like chinese tune)....what other reason is pentatonic created for?

anyone can help or enlighten?

thanks so much..hehe

it's for ease since you can use triads or something, so you can shred faster! actually it's a matter of choice, if you wanna go with the major scale then there's nothing wrong, as long as you achieve what you set out to.

Basically a scale is a cultural man made construct. The pentatonic just happened because some people thought it was a good way to structure the note selections that way. Intrinsically it sounded musical, which is why it exists in many parts of the world in early music.

Other than that, you can generate your own scales, and call it anything you want. Whether it's musical or not, is another matter.
