M-audio fast track pro vs presonus firebox

I want to record vocals and acoustic guitar. I'm preparing to invest in a dynamic mic sm57 and a condenser, either a M-AUDIO NOVA or RODE NT1-A.

Or can someone recommend me good mics for miking up acoustic guitar and vocals?

I can't decide whether to get the fast track or the firebox.

I was told that Firewire runs better than USB 2.0 and has zero latency because its not CPU dependent. Can someone verify?

Also, is there any way to DI with the Fast track? From my 1/4 guitar jack to XLR?

lastly, my budget is $600. either an Audio Interface with a good mic. or Audio interface with 2 cheaper mics.

Hi,

Firebox/SM57/RodeNT1A (invest in a mic pre too.. on board micpres are usually noisy and crappy).

What you read was "Zero latency monitoring your inputs" through the product's control panel. There will be latency in Digi-Recording. Set a small buffer size in your DAW for less latency while recording. Bigger size when mixing.

DI to fast track is not necessary. There's a 1/4" inst input on the front panel.
