hey guys .. i am looking for a new direction in my drum sound .. looking for bright crisp but loud hats.. any suggestions ?

what do you guys think of hhx stage and power hat ?

i tried the paragon series, i really hate it. cause it's really bright and cutting, excellant for rock and heavier. u might like it

If you're looking for bright and crisp hats from sabian.
go for, AAX stage, HHX evolution, or Vault.

Using HHX Groove hats. They are actually brighter than the AAX Stage hats. And yes, i know this from head-to-head comparison at the shop itself. The HHX Groove hats have this really nice clear stick definition too.

wow.. hmm.. thanks guys .. think i better head down myself

oh one thing .. shd i buy crashes from the same series or mix them up ?

i guess it depends on the sound i'm going for huh ..

i think the HHX groove hats are designed after garibaldi's hats, i really wld like to give them a whack.
i got the HHX manhattan hats and boy their pretty damn nice, very clean and clear as well.

i reckon u shld mix them up alttle, but i can understand tht u wld want a consistent sound through ur cymbals range as well

eh HHX groove hats resonably bright ah?
almak then always see at the sale, many pieces of HHX groove hats no one buy.
next sale i'm gona get myself a pair.

i'm really interested in the vault series of cymbals. i need one gd crash and another gd ride and i'm pretty much set.

I wouldn't say the groove hats are reasonably bright. I'd say they are very bright. At least out of the few i've tried before.

Anyway, i don't really think it's essential to get "sonically matched" sets or even cymbals from the same series/brand. As long as they sound good to you and complement each other well, I think that's great.

HHX Evolution cymbals (especially their crash) sound very, very bright and tend not to play well with cymbals from other series (they sound rather out of place). Just my observation from having used the crash and splash. The thinness also makes they rather easily damaged (my crash cracked in 2 places after barely 2-3 years of low-moderate use).

HHXtreme's are really great esp the 18" ones.. it's much louder than my 20" Vault crash!!! definately has volome, quite trashy due to it's thinness but overall my favourite crash....

also shred-5's paragon 10" splash... mmmm, thats the whipped cream on a chocolate frappe.

Hmm right about Evolution cymbals being bright and thin. I love my Evo splash. It mixes well with my AAX and AA cymbals. Great for accents. Been using it extensively for the past 3 years or so. Served me very well and it still is :D
