Most of these pictures remind me of Xena: The Warrior Princess and i dont know why.

RD , just out of curiousity, are you going to have multiple pictures on each tom, bass drum, snare or just one picture evenly spread out among the drumset (am i making sense) ? :???:

wah, tho some deemed offensive for some parents..
but damn, that boris drew nice....

the way he drew those bodies, be it female or male, really nice.. wif the muscles buldging out..

There is a Big-Problem here.

I went home, look at all my Kits - The Bass Drum & Floor Toms are OK cause it's huge enough to get the drawings up...But the Toms (with all those Lugs) had left so little space for the drawing - - - - - No wonder, I don't see Drum Set with these kind of pics - They spar paint Logo eg An American Flag, UK Flag - or using only one particular Logo only eg Dream Theater - now I understand....SPACE Constraints at the toms.

Because I love Fantasy Art - my friend spray-paints these pics on Tees, on MotorCycle Helmet - as a Hobbiest, but Boy he's great in Fantasy Artwork...

Now I can't do it - unless I get a Standard and Select only One-Similar-Pics (cannot pick a few of these) to use on all my toms/kits....and selecting that one is tough - - - cause some pics cannot - too complicated on my Cylinderical Surface and with all the lugs - the picture will not be able to show everything lah...so sad.

why not print it on a standard plastic wrap and wrap ur whole set with different piece of artwork...

i guess it'll be much cheaper.

it wont look good on Wraps - no matter how - Air-Brush work looks real and beautiful cause people would feel touch it - if it's airbrush - facinating cause it's a one of of a kind work.

Checkout the Yamaha Washi drum kit for ideas. The painting was actually printed then wrapped.

Tapestry finish: The finish is an ancient Japanese tapestry of the Genpei war that is laser printed on Washi paper and meticulously hand-laid on the all-birch shells. The drums are then hand sprayed with a clear lacquer that is hand-buffed to a lustrous shine. Each drum depicts a different battle scene from the war that was a pivotal point in Japan’s history.

For 40 years, Yamaha Drums has handcrafted renowned products that enable musicians to fully express their unique sounds. To commemorate this milestone, Yamaha Drums issues a 40th Anniversary Washi Drum Set at Winter NAMM 2007. Wrapped with washi paper (a type of Japanese paper used in traditional Japanese arts), the limited edition drum set's artwork depicts scenes from the Genpei War, which threw Japan into tumult from 1180 to 1185.

"This limited edition drum set draws on the rich history of Japan and the heritage of Yamaha Drums," said Dave Jewell, marketing manager, Yamaha Drums, Pro Audio & Combo Division. "The Genpei War is the most famous clash known in Japanese culture and was a pivotal point in Japanese history. It is only fitting that we put this important design on this special kit."

The Genpei War between the Taira and the Minamoto clans established the Kamakura Shogunate, the first Shogun to wield power nationwide, marking the rise of samurai power and the suppression of emperor reign. In the aftermath of the war, the colors of the Taira and Minamoto standards, red and white, respectively, were established as Japan's national colors, as reflected in the country's flag.

Several spectacular battles of the Genpei War have been represented in various Japanese artworks. Yamaha used scenes depicted in a hand-painted paneled screen that is displayed in the Takamatsu Historical Museum in Japan as a basis for the washi wrap. In the artwork and on the drumset, the gilded golden clouds provide a striking contrast to the dark blue sea water, while the vivid colors on the armor of the soldiers and horses draw the viewers into each battle scene.

A complete Washi Drum Set will also be displayed in the Japanese museum, bringing together old world history and new world technology.

No Spino - They are not Porno - they are a form of Art call Fantasy Artwork and they are all Air-Brush Work, simply beautiful.

It is though a norm that most Fantasy Art Artists use Female to make it's Artwork more attractice, cause they are actually Real-Person (Models) used by these Artists.

Bro Weckl - wow...nice....at least it's an idea - It gives me an Idea - to show the Air Brush Artists - - example of how they could do it - to select the appropriate pics intelligently based on something like this shown- thanks alot bro.

RD bro, spinofdoom's reaction is what you will get a lot if you spray paint such pictures on your drums. Some people (especially minors) might think that it's porn/obscene etc mostly because of the certain amount of nudity involved in Fantasy Artwork.

I think if your drumkits will never leave your house, then it's probably still ok. Or else you are going to have a hard time trying to explain what is Fantasy Artwork to lots of people who only see the nudity in the pictures.

Just my thoughts on this :)

Ya-Boy Mel ..... If I bring them out - may have resentment from Public man....Hm.mmmm but just keep at home - sayang ley - wasted cannot show-people...HOW lah.

Maybe air-brush something killer also without the Woman around eg like Dragons, & Knights.....

Perhaps you'd want to just start off with your bassdrum skin and see how it looks like before doing everything at one go..

jamella - Bass Drum Skin (Batter or Reso) cannot use Air-Brush - sure come out one - But Bass Drum Skin uses Cut-Stickers based on Design (usually a machine can cut) - then just Paiste it on the Skin - This way it will not spoiled....if spray 100% come out - cannot lah.

My friend (ex-colleague) ever do it - on a Helmet & Tees - wah so.oooo beautiful lah - exactly like the Pics Posted...He did a few of these. so I know its beauty - - - - That's when I 1st got interested in Fantasy AirBrush Work - - - Not that he can't do - but alot of the Artwork will be covered up by Lugs at the toms (since the surface area is small) - - - and I know Big Picture easier to do then those small one (if he shrink it) - so they would prefer to do large one.

How difficult is it - depends on what need to be AirBrush (Logo, Design and such - no problem)- But when it comes to pictures with Human Being, like those pics above - to spray-paint it near to real life person - This is the most difficult part for a Air Brush Artists or any artists - The Human to look real and nice.

The Human (usually a Female used in Fantasy ArtWork) of how is it being projected in the ArtWork will show how good the Artists is in Spary-Painting Real-Life.

PS:- I've seen also many Air-Brush Artists (even Boris himself had done some of these) who did their work on Humans - they look more like Comics Characters sometimes (they are nice too) - the below are some example I believe of Boris earlier work.
