i'm interested in buying a line 6 spider II combo amp. is it any good? cause it's going cheap and has uite a few effects on it. i play mostly rock music but also want a good clean tone from my amp as well as the distortion sound.

In my mind, the Line6 amps are good modulator amps....their digital and stuff...

Ben Moody of Evanessesence uses the SPIDER II...which is maybe why u wanna get it....lol..

In the long run though, I think the SPIDER II is quite limited...there's only so much u can really do with it.

I rather have a good Marshall amp or Fender Amp....and then run a good effects loop through them for the overdrive...flanger and stuff.... more options and variation....from Punk to Jazz to Prog...etc

However, if you wanna stay with punk/gothic...etc or stay with the sounds on the spider....by all means go ahead...

As long as it gives u what u want.

cheers

i'm not a really a gothic fan. maybe punk. then what would a good affordable marshall or fender amp be? is the fender cyber twin deluxe a good choice?

To be honest, only the high end Fender and Marshall Tube amps sound great but they are really costly and high maintenance. The solid state ones from these 2 brands are just regular average amps with a brand name on it. The Line 6 Spider II digital amp has built-in effects and 12 essential different amp models in one single package which includes Marshall, Fender, Vox, Mesa Boogie, Roland Jazz Chorus. Flexibility, convenience and value is what we are talking about.

If you buy a Marshall, you are stuck with a Marshall sound only no matter how you adjust the settings, EQ and drive, it's non negotiable. The same applies for Fender or any other brands.
