Light Scratch Removers

anyone know of any brand of polish that is able to remove light scratches like swirl marks on the electric guitar?any good ones to reccommend?

Bro, you can try using brasso. No joke. Its really a type of polishing compound.

To restore your glossy surface, you must first conduct a "compounding" before you wax-shine it.

Brasso, more commonly used as a metal polish, contain very fine abrasive, but not as coarse as the industrial compound (I got the 2 to compare).

However, for best result, you must apply brasso using a cotton spinner mount onto a hand-drill. Dont be worried if you see a clouded surface after "compounding" with brasso. Wax-shine using the same spinner with premium car polishing wax and you will get a surface as good as new.

Hope my experience helps!

Eh brasso not that good. Put under fluorescent light everything will be seen.

What I use is a combination of Meguire's X scratch remover, autoglym paint renovator and autoglym super resin polish. These are specifically catered towards the clear coat of your guitar while Brasso is catered towards metal.

Ripper, do try them! While Brasso may work in a pinch, your guitar finish will have alot more lustre using what I've just recommended.

Thanks Almond! No worry on Brasso - if you use a high speed turning buffer to buff out the scratch!! Tried and tested, guitar restored to factory wet glossy shineness here! (Thanks to Dean from Guitar Workshop for the tips!)

Yup I have heard of Meguire's products and heard bout the good review. I think its good for those who dont have machinery and just wanna do by hand. :)

You could also try this completely different method. Buy some micromesh(its special sandpaper) from ebay and wet sand from 1500 grit to 12000 grit. It'll come out looking like new. Each grit successively removes finer and finer scratches untill it cant be seen by the eye.

I think they are produced by Meguire's to be sold under Planet Waves so they should be fine.

there was a previous collaboaration between Meguiar & Fender; a polish to remove light scratches. can't seem to find it in the market any more, matbe disct'd...

I used Snarling Dogs Revival Cream. Removes light scratch marks really well and leaves a shiny finish along the way.
