Les Paul: Burny VS Epiphone

i'm thinking of getting an epiphone LP, but i saw a burny for about the same price. i wonder which one is better. anyone have any opinion?

try them out perhaps? I don't really know much about LPs since I don't play them often (i'm inclined towards unfinished necks :D) but I think the Burny would make a better deal because they usually produce better sounding products than Epiphone's. The models aren't mentioned so I dunno which ones you're talking about, but the best bet would be to try both and go along with whichever sounds better to you :smt023

Hmm I don't really know much about those two guitars, I've played an Epi LP standard but it belonged to my friend's brother and it had neck problems, perhaps one of the more experienced guitarists can shed some light? Subversion maybe?

i dunno about burny, but i know that epiphone's LPs are good for solo, but bad for playing power chords. u know u get this kind of muffled mashy lump of sound when u play chords, but when soloing it's different. soloing the tone is good, but i still prefer strats, good tone!

never tried tt burny before.

i tried the epiphone. not too bad, just needa change the pickups.

i got a burny RLG-45Z... the neck is not like normal lp's neck. its like a strat neck. thinner, slimmer.

i like the sound, the stocks gimme. besides, mine's made in jap or korea, so its well, better worth i guess?

nono get epiphone... wads with guys now ah.. every1 against lp... look at the threads up here condemning epiphone lp lol...

i thought of getting the Epiphone LP Goldtop at davis..$770 with free hardcase..

not a bad bargain if you ask me.

if u wanted an LP u should have gone to sweelee's sale, very good bargain. so u'll get like $300-400 like that

waaaaaat?
not a bad bargain?
the one with p90s or humbuckers?

i got my epi lp goldtop std, made in korea + hard case (humbuckers version) for $550.

the stock pickups are quite decent. If you know how to mix and match the controls. If you the neck pickup to play chords, it wont sound muddy.

but epiphone is made in china right? if u buy epiphone u should change pus

no not all are made in china only the lower end ones like the 300 plus dollar sgs. the usual higher range ones are still MIK. and besides their elitist MIJ stuff should be nearly as good as gibsons. correct me if im wrong, old birds

Yeah only the cheaper Epiphones are made in China. The elitest are not available in singapore. However, the general feelings are that Epiphones are not worth the price you pay for them.... Get the burny la.

Tthe Burny LPs sold here are of the lower to mid-range kind, hence are also made in China.

Before we start condemning China-made Epis, they are actually pretty good of late. QC has improved tremendoulsy and the stock pickups are quite decent. The reason why they sound bad is not because of the instrument's fault but the lack of playing skills to draw out the best from Les Pauls.

Most Strat players are not comfortable with playing Les Pauls unless they appreciate the innate differences between the two guitars (single coils vs humbuckers, 24.75" scale vs 25" scale etc). Once that is sorted out, the Epi Les Paul can deliver what they are built for. Warm, lushious tones.

Hi AiraTekkan,

I have a range of Burny guitars for sale. I have a RLG-55s, a model higher than the one you saw. It's MIK. Almost new. Actually when you see it, you will not know it's used. It has a built in sustainer. Factory build not modified. I also have MIJ versions. In fact all my other guitars for sale are MIJ.

I don't think i should comment on whether it is better than Epiphone or not. Perhaps you may want to try it out. And no worries, no obligation to buy. :)

I also have a few other LPs lawsuit copy, mainly Orville and Orville by Gibson which you can try out also.

If you are interested to try it out. Please drop me a mail at loneeurope@yahoo.com

Cheers!

Can you guys tell me, where to find Burny here?

Yamaha carries them. Not exactly at competitive prices though. The advantage is that you get to try and choose which guitar you want.

While at it...you can also find G&L Tributes there. G&L has become having a bad rep - getting quoted by Ed Roman as extremely profit-orienteered to the point of decreasing quality - but well there're others who also question Ed Roman. Read with a pinch of salt and try out the Tributes yourself.
