i heard from my friends that left hander cannot play drum well is that true?
im a leftie...should i learn with my right or just the left?

play open handed, it's a great opportunity. wiki open handed if you don't know what it is. carter beauford (of dave matthews band), also my favorite drummer, plays open handed..it opens up a world of opportunities cross handed playing is limited to..have fun.

there is nothing wrong. in fact, i'm jealous of left handers. cause there are just too many right handers out there. -.-

My band's drummer's a lefty and his drum set up is the standard for right handers. But he still kicks ass on drums, so i guess it dosen't matter la. Its all about how you approach this with your mindset. If you think you can't play drums well cos you're a lefty then you won't.

Your friends obviously don't know what they are talking about. I'm left-handed/right-footed, so I play with a right hand set up open-handed. You might prefer a left-handed/left-footed set-up. Experiment. It can be a lot of fun. =)

And yes, there are a lot of good drummers in the industry that are left-handed. =)

Hey bro..
Lefties are not disabled.
learn to play open handed on a standard right handed drum set.
its challenging.
2 drummers to check out.
Carter Beuford & Billy Cobham

All the best.
Have fun.
Push urself.

Nice to see so many left handed drummers around =D

I'm borned left handed and right legged. But for drums, I'm ambidextrous. No matter how ambidextrous I am, I still rely on left hand leading more still.

I play open handed on normal right handed drumset too!

You can take private lesson or from school. I guess it largely depends on who you want to learn from actually. Correct me if I'm wrong. I don't think there's ABRSM for drums. But there's two other graded examination that you can take. LCM and Trinity I think.

Good luck!
