Hi guys, i've just started out learning scales.

Was wondering what are the type of scales there are and whether anyone has any good sites to recommend for learning scales.

On a side note, how important is a metronome? 8O
Don't really know how to use it so, if anyone could guide me too. That'll be great.

each time you hear a "click" on the metronome , It is considered as 1 crochet beat and 4 clicks equals to 4 crochet beats which is also known as 1 bar....

by the way i'm seeing a great importance in the use of a metronome since softies have commented on my An Jing piece going out of time often

there are a huge variety of scales but the most common scales used in playing are the major , minor natural , minor harmonic , minor pentatonic , and blues...

If you're guitarist , the most common scales used would be the minor pentatonic and blues

If you're a pianist or keyboardist , the most common scales used would be the major and minor harmonics scale

metronome is important!!! u can be good at riffing and sweeping or whatever but if u can't play on time, u are out!!!(pun intended!)

scales... with piano... i noe that u have

-major
-minor -- harmonics
-- melodic
those 2 kinda hard to get... but once u get the hang of it... its great...
