Hi all. I'm moving to Singapore later this month and was hoping to see how the music scene is. I was somewhat active in San Francisco, (where I'm moving from), where we had regular practices and did shows at bars/livehouses and the occasional mini-tour. I'm in my mid-thirties now, playing guitar for almost 20 years and looking for a similar demographic to play out with. Not looking to take this full-time as I have a day job (the reason I'm moving to Singapore in the first place). I had my chance in San Francisco, now I'm just looking to have fun with like-minded people.
I'm good around a guitar, but not a shredder by any means, I'm primarily a creator/hook-maker. I use Logic/Ableton/Reason to write. I like to lay down all of the instrumentation around an idea just to simulate how it will sound with a full band. Bringing small venue gear with me: an MIJ Jaguar main with a couple of backup guitars, an Orange Rocker 30 tube combo, and a modest pedalboard. Not interested in cover bands.
I love distorted guitars, synths, dancy syncopation, and gritty thumping blues rock. My core style is born from the days of Smashing Pumpkins/Foo Fighters/Rage Against the Machine and current and past influences are The Killers, Bloc Party, Portugal. the Man, early Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, Metric, Cults, Sleigh Bells, Arcade Fire, Anamanaguchi, STRFKR, Kimbra, St. Vincent, Jack White, Black Keys, Tame Impala
