I've been using George L's for awhile now, never broke down on me even though pedals come and go on my board. Nonetheless, the distinct difference i hear when A/B'd with other patch cables from Evidence and Lava, is the top end. George L's distinctly present way more top end than the rest. Harmful or not, its up to you.. Right now, i may be changing to Lava or Evidence only because the Klon's buffer sounded distinctly better with them.
Without the Klon, well, the George L's are as good as the others in terms of clarity and reliability.. I suggest A/Bing them for yourself, trust your ears and no one else's!
Just my humble opinion, i'm sure there'll be posts advicing you on the soldered and cheaper canares pretty soon!
I have had experience with both, and hands-down in terms of reliability, design and tone the Lava Cables win. I bought the solder-less pedalboard kit plus an additional 5 pairs of plugs from the website. The kit itself cost me S$160.
