any softies uses or had expreience with lace sensors? Read reviews for them, and its a hit or miss thing.
looking at the lace sensor blue as a replacement for my mustang as i like to have a more output "humbucker" tone while retaining the asthetic look of the mustang...

Depends, you can't look for the "fender" sound from them, but by themselves they make pretty cool, roughly noiseless single coil pickups. I tried the Hot Gold S-S-S set and it was pretty cool for me :) hope it helps a little

Here are two links that talk about lace sensors.

Lace Sensors are supposed to be placed very near the strings as they are of low output. They function well as single coil pickups which are hum-free or 'noiseless'. However, they're not so great in the 'gain' department. Yes you can step on your world-domination-distortion-pedals freely without worrying about hum but they cannot handle distortion very well. In essence, you'll sound muddy (also very dependent on your setup, pedals used, amp etc).

If you're looking for single-coil noiseless pickups which can handle gain well, (which is the case here since you mentioned you were looking for something with more output like a 'humbucker' tone in single-coil setup) , consider getting the Dimarzio Area series. (Dimarzio Area 58 , Dimarzio Area 61, Dimarzio Area 67).

I'm skeptical about the Fender Vintage Hot Noiseless and the SCN(Samarium Cobalt Noiseless) pickups. Perhaps someone can shed some light about these pickups.

If you're feeling rich, try a set of kinman pickups. Read around the net that people who bought kinmans never sold them.

Do note there are many other noiseless pickups in the market. Everybody has their own preference.

Blue are nice ... kind of low output, doesn't really sound like a humbucker when compared with other humbucker equipped guitars
doesn't sound single coil too ...

Gold are nice ... sparkly bright
Hot gold nice too

never tried silver

don't like red, kind of harsh sounding and also weak output
