hey guys, okie this is not a rudiment as per say.

this is playing odd grps of notes in a quater note.
try playing 5 notes in a quater note.
play singles and dlbs

Rlrlr Lrlrl Rlrlr and so on. accent the 1 then after ur comfortable take the accent away.

with dlbs
Rrllr Rllrr Lrrll Rrllr and so on.

try and go from normal 16th notes to 5's

RLRL RLRL RLRLR LRLRL AND SO ON

mix it up. it's really interesting. feels like ur speeding up but not

oh sorry forgot to mention

play this all with ur hi hat pulsing on the qauter notes.
this helps u have a better feeling of the time when ur notes switch up.

i find doing a bar of normal 16ths then quintuplets helps me adjust to the switch.

u can also use quinteplets in rhythms. this mth or last mths moden drummer has a excercise by chris pennie tht is just freaking awesome for rhythms using 5's or quintuplets as their called as well

wow funkifized, this pretty gd stuff *thumbs up*

i find it quite refreshing, thanks for the heads up!!! :D

to learn or not to learn ( DRUM THEORY) is it important?

Im not sure...but some will prefer not learning theory at all...how bout u guys...?maybe different opinion..

why the heck would anyone not learn theory?

the only professional drummer i know who doesn't know how to read a single note is Dennis Chambers, and that's only because he memorizes every single thing that he has to play. Whenever musicians hire him he'll have to memorize large chunks. If you can do that, then more power to you.

If you noticed, his playing has not changed a single bit within the last ten years. I believe it severely impairs him, but he's at a level good enough to not care about this issue.

hey man i reckon, learn theory. the whole world opens up to u when u do man. it's not hard as well, will take u like 5 mins to know which drum is wat notes. learning the note values will be quite easy as well. hardest step is starting man, i use to hate the balls out of reading as well
