keyboard/interface for electronica

Hi guys,

I been wanting to produce electronic music for awhile now and have been dabbling in and out of softwares but have not actually bought hardware to supplement this. i have decided the only way to fully move forward now is to buy the hardware so that i can actually produce better music (aka not rely on loops alone)

i am thinking of getting a mbox 2 mini for an audio interface as well as either the m-audio axiom 25 or m-audio ozone 25. what do you guys think? is it too much or too little? also any suggestions for other keyboards/interfaces?

i used to take the piano but that is a long time ago so i am not capable of playing long melodies. so with that in mind is a 25 keyboard enough?

thanks!

Hi my friend, I don't know if a midi controller is considered as a hardware but yeah, its much more convenient for you to lay down melodies and do some on the fly control things better on a midi controller. The axiom 25 is a good start, yeah...because it got knobs and pads for you to assign and control alot of parameters like envelopes etc. Well, I would still urge you get more keys like 49 keys or so because you might find the 2 octaves to be limited after some time.

Oh and hardware...how about a Novation Xiosynth or X-station? Both of them are really cool because they functions as an audio interface, a midi controller and a hardware synth as well. This might be a good options if you're looking to travel with your gears often.

Hold your horses .... check out our NORD LEAD 2X and WAVE for electronica stuff. If you really are into tweaking modular synths (eg. MOOG MODULAR, etc) then go for the NORD G2. It's got the CPU processing power to emulate those stuff and the modules are FULLY assignable and routable via software. For good ol' trad' keys like B3 organs, Rhodes, Wurlitzers, etc our range of STAGE and ELECTRO keyboards are the deal. If you need a B3 with their double-decked keys and drawbars, the C1 ORGAN is the only such keyboard in its class - BTW it also has a LESLIE SPEAKER OUTPUT to connect to real leslie speakers!!!

If you are in the market for a midi controller with its own synth tones ... we have that in the next 2-3 months. I cannot reveal much but this is a MIDI controller keyboard (synth weighted and also piano weighted options) with upgradable cards to make it into a programmable SYNTH and PIANO with WIRELESS MIDI (no more cables).

Keep your fingers crossed!!!
:)

MIKE.

ahha ok wait wait info over load!! i not that well versed with hardware so this is a bit too much for me to take in :X

alshit: so the Novation Xiosynth or Xstation function as a audio interface and midi controller too? but isn't it a bit steep? and what does hardware synth mean? (sorry a bit noob) in that case is the xiosynth similar to the ozone? why then is the price point so different?

keyboard theatre: haha, i didn't really catch what you were saying? can explain what you were saying in less complex lingo :x.

thanks for the quick replies thus far guys.
