A super weekend of Japanese entertainment with JPLEX Volume 1!!
Branded as JPLEX Volume 1, the first ever installment of the entertainment platform will bring to Singapore, for the first time, direct from Japan, three Anime Blockbusters, that includes titles like the latest Naruto Movie Naruto Shippudden: The Lost Tower and Sokyuu No Fafner: Heaven and Earth. Also on show is the third installment of the highly acclaimed Gundam Unicorn series. Coupled with these exciting movies are two concert performances from top Japanese music groups, angela and FLOW, whose music have been featured extensively in the soundtracks of the featured movie franchises of Naruto and Sokyuu No Fafner.
A Weekend of J Pop music concerts!
In conjunction with the Naruto Shippudden and Sokyuu no Fafner movies, two musical acts that have performed for these two series will be holding concerts at the event as well! FLOW, the group behind two Naruto opening themes, will be performing for the first time here in Singapore at JPlex Volume 1! Hot on the heels of their performance at AFA X’s I Love Anisong, angela have confirmed their attendance for the event as well!

angela is the brilliant creation of atsuko on vocals and KATSU on guitar. Their signature upbeat tunes and rich arrangements is a dazzling mix of electronica, dance, rock, swing jazz and ska. angela’s energetic stage presence and stunning performance brings together atsuko’s versatile vocals and KATSU’s multi-instrumental skills, instantly winning the hearts of audiences in big scale international events like Otakon and Sakura-Con. Song such as “Shangri-La” from Sokyuu no Fafner and “Asu e no Brilliant Road” from Stellvia no Universe have brought the group Oricon success as well. Most recently, they made their first performance in Singapore at Anime Festival Asia 2010.

FLOW is made of five piece alternative rock band made up of Kohshi (vocals/guitar), Keigo (vocals), Takashi (guitar), Hiroshi (drum) and Yasutaro (Bass). The band dates back to 1998 but only debuted in 2001, with the release of their first single “Flow #0” and mini-albums, and taking the indie charts by storm. Since then, they have released no less than twenty-one singles and six albums, including “Colors”, opening theme to the first season of Code Geass, and “GO!!” And “RE:member”, from the Naruto anime. All three singles have brought them success on the Oricon charts, with “Colors” maxing out at 2nd. Their most recent single was their cover of “1/3の純情な感情”, ending theme of the Rurouni Kenshin anime. Their performance at JPlex will be their first in South East Asia.
JPLEX is an entertainment platform that has been created towards delivering the latest and hottest Japanese entertainment IPs to the Asian audience. The organizers expect more installments coming up in 2011, with some of the biggest blockbusters and artists from the Japanese entertainment world to be showcased in Asia.
