Hi I saw the Japan made Fender Telecaster in G77 y'sday - the buterscoth finish one - looks exactly like the US 52 reissue..

Anyone tried or own it? I'm quite interested? Any feedback? Price advise etc?

Appreciate your comments...cheers

I bought my mij 62 RI tele from G77. excellent construction and finish, pickups are 'texas specials'. To my knowledge, the pickups that these MIJ guitars have are not the true Texas Specials, but are jap clones of the real deal. Likewise their 'US vintage' pickups, i guess. anyone care to shed more light on this?

nonetheless, i am very pleased with the tone i get from the pickups in mine - neck is low output, got the acoustic-like tone when clean; bridge is twangy as you like, and hot enough to growl when driven. I can't compare to its american-made sibling, cos i've not had the chance to try it, but i think it can certainly hold its own.

here's a pic:

price: 1350 (i think)

my ex-guitarist got a jap tele from ishibashi. good QC & workmanship.

sound wise i won't comment - he's such a good player, anything that is decent will sound awesome with his hands.

expect low output pups unless you go for the more modern models.

any telecaster with binding other than 62 RI? the only one i can find is ESP ron wood sig model. im really interested in telecaster and les paul (but lp seems to be very pricy for the gibsons one, fender ones are mroe reasonable.)

the other tele with binding is the American Deluxe tele (only front body binding). But that costs >3000 SGD, i believe.

the MIJ 62 RI (back and front binding) is probably the cheapest Fender tele with binding you can find.

Telecaster Aerodyne also comes with binding

do try out the Beck tele at G77. It seems to have very interesting specs.

jeff beck? or the anime beck one? i wanna get the anime beck one, their headstock wordings is cool

the anime beck. i thought they would have dud specs to increase sales, but the specs are actually nowhere subpar.

i do think u have to fork more for the Beck factor.

anyone got even a beat up chalat-chalat fender jap or whatever or even squier 52 style butterscoth finish tele wanna leggo PM me..I wanna redo a "Bruce Springsteen" Esquire....
