"they once stood for perfection, but they just weren't built for these times."
I agree with this. However their music are not to get forgotten ! :D

This writer, Moyer, didn't know what he was writing for this article. He was tripping (likely on acid) himself on his reasonings. If people still like, appreciate, listen & are die-hard friends, that means the Beatles testament speaks for itself. Period!

So what about this line "In "God," a song from his first record as a solo artist, Lennon offered a cynical view of his former group: "I don't believe in Beatles/I just believe in me."" ... That only mean everyone has his opinion (FYI, Lennon wrote that bcos he was tired & fed up AT THAT TIME, but in really it was the opposite).

We should all respect any band/individual/musician/etc who can create & maintain such fanfare. Brian Wilson created Pet Sounds wow! Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees is the 2nd most successful songwriter in pop history (behind Lennon/McCartney)... The fanfare for these guys & others are very good too but still cannot hold pass what the Beatles had done in those 7 music evolutionary years.

We could forget the Beatles (I doubt that) until somebody else can create another sensational, sustainable & crave themselves into music-dom hall of fame!

Nuff said!

Good one bud! let's take it a notch up ...

The Beatles ate a Strawberry pie in Penny Lane but they had a bad tummy ache and went looking for Doctor Robert for Help! However, they had to Get Back to see Michelle but For No One was interested in Eleanor Rigby but I still think that Sexy Sadie is The Word. While they were trying to Drive My Car, there was a farm with Piggies and Rocky Raccoon and there was a Blackbird trying to eat a Glass Onion. Then, they met Lovely Rita and she said Why Don't We Do it in the Road Because its my Birthday. But they all just ran and bummed into a Nowhere Man who was Fixing a Hole. He turned to them and said, "I'm looking through you and better Run for your Life!" Finally the lads reached their destination and played a song For the Benefit of Mr. Kite as things was Getting Better. That's A Day in a Life of The Beatles, and Good Night!

I have all their UK albums on me mp3 (alongside DIO, Metallica, Megadeth, Dream Theatre, Slipknot, Apocalypto,... etc) and listen to them almost everyday. They still rock me boat.

And... there is NEVER a time to get over the Beatles. Their music is timeless.

Yo Centralcatchment (aaahhh interesting handle ... I feel I'm on water now) :D ;)

Anyways, a detailed and thought-provoking read. Well written indeed. The icing on the cake for me was "Graeme Souness (the player not the manager)" hahahahaha... you hit the nail on that one!

... As Lennon, the quirky one, said, A man on a flaming pie came to me in a vision and said, "From this day forward you are the Beatles with an "A". Alas, the rest is history.
