Thanks for all the help !

That kind of money can buy good drum kit and cymbals... no need those panels... all one has to learn is to know the art of playing without disturbing others...

the art of playing without disturbing...
and the art of playing with feel....
pardon my words, but you dont really need to keep on whacking the drumset like as if nobody can hear them.....
sometimes u need to play soft, as when you play love songs....
master the feel, you master the art of playing without disturbing others...

show and feel the love, brothers

well yah thts true u need to learn how to play soft.

but man u need to get ur muscles conditioned to play loud as well.

if ur a jazz drummer u cld get away with playing without panels

tell mi,
which is harder and using more muscles?

to whack the whole bloody damn thing, or to play controlled?
to me i feel is like, playing controlled requires more muscles....

just like when you go gym,
the difference can be felt when you carry the weight, in an uncontrolled way, ie just using you body, tilting over your body when lifting up the weights, and when you control your weight-lifting by using only your desired muscle group in a slow manner both up and down.....

gosh, am i blabbering here?
am i out of topic??? hahahahah

anywya, just my own thoughts, wherby for me, playing in a more controlled fashion requires more muscles......

feel the love once again bros

oits marc....
why mention her name here???
she's mine and mine only.. i wanna feel her love....

anywya, we are totally out of the topicccc!!!!!!!! hahahahahaha

oh no i dun mean to say which requires more muscles.
i'm saying u need to learn how to play dynamically. like say in a funk groove, u have accents on the snare and hi hat which need to be played at FF while the ghosting need to be played at P.
so u need the control tht can only be had from playing those accents loud and the ghostings soft, during ur practice time, know wat i mean?

i'm not being a prick and arguing with u for arguements sake.
i mean it's a valid point, to the best of my knowledge

ff is loud
p is soft

bro... no weris.. i'm not arguing wif you also.. hahahahah
just stating the facts of life.. hahaha

like i said, feel the love...

anyway, lets focus back to the isolation panels shall we... hee heee

so ms,
try to learn to play soft, thats the art in drumming as well....
dat way, u dont really need those isolation panels....

I have a home studio and these can give me more than just isolate drums.

I can use it for vocals, guitars, amps, basically everything that I can mic and getting a dead sound without hacing to treat my whole room.

It has many uses, I don't have a proper booth/treatment right now and isolation panels are my only choice.

So yes, this thing is good if you do alot of recording in untreated home, and like marc say, good things don't come cheap.

Thanks everyone for the reply!

playing soft is one thing, getting the drums to "open up" to sound good requires a certain amount of volume/force, that's why IMO i think the shield is great, prevents from disturbing others but still getting the sound you want.

thats just my 2 cents

I live in a flat and own a RT set.

Every time I play, I always have this feeling at the back of my mind that I am disturbing the peace. So far (4 years already), no one complain yet, except for my siblings. But if the isolation panels really do cut back a lot of noise level, it might be a cool investment.

For me, nothing beats playing without worries or fears. Especially when I walked past my neighbor today, I discovered they had baby laundry, which means, I'm probably disturbing the baby! GASP!!!
