Can a carlos drumset be tuned as good as a pearl or tama set? does it really sound like tin cans?

Anyone experience this before?

Comparing brands is of no use! You have to compare within the LINES of the brands. If you're comparing an average Carlos kit to a high-end Tama Kit (e.g. StarClassics), of course it's impossible to match up to it. Compare it to something similar in terms of pricing and quality, e.g. Pearl 'Target' Drums.

Can... change to coated drum heads to compensate the depth missing in the low end drums. Put the Carlos side by side with other famous brands and let them be played without you watching. You can't really tell the difference. We tend to be bias about the quality of the sound once we see which is which... 8)

Yup... I have ever tuned the Linko drumset that was onced brought in by Swee Lee. It cost about $400 10 years back then. The drumheads were medium coated. The drummers present then couldn't believe their ears 8O Anybody who needs their entry level kit to be tuned can PM me. No cost involved, it is my hobby
