International Courier Services?

Hi guys n gals,
I just wanted to know if anyone knows of a courier service that I could use to post something really big and heavy, like a guitar amp, from Singapore to Australia. It doesn't really matter how long it takes, as long as it's not more than a month or two. And it's gotta be reliable and not too costly. UPS quotes 490SGD. That's an example of too costly.

Try Singapore Post Air parcel Service..very reliable and safe. You can also insure the item :roll:

Are you posting from SG to OZ or the other way round? I'm using Jetta Express to send all my stuff back to SG. I'm not sure if they provide services to send things from SG to OZ. It's one of the cheapest I know in OZ.

erm erm ... dun mind me saying ... wadeva uve suggested rite ... its all shipping ... via courier air ? cos like courier air its really ex... they pay one live person to hand carry ya stuff and hand deliver it to u .... hmmz ... y dun u just go DHL get a super humongus jumbo box ... puit ur amp in and a lot alot alot alot alot alot of stuffing in and air freight it over ?? defintely much cheaper ... just label it extrememly fragile ... i think singpost can do tt too and insure it too !

I think you've been reading the courier companies advertisements on TV too literally Shipping companies have a network of staff, vehicles and tie up with other shipping companies.

Different people do different jobs, your package changes hands virtually countless times.

If a company would to provide courier services where one guy flies around with your package, it would cost much more than UPS or DHL

Basically, it's just priority mail. Really PIORITY. But what difference does it make if it goes through a network of people or one guy carries it around? As long as it gets delivered fast.. But if it spanks your monkey that a single guy travels aroudn the world to deliver your package... haha

Anyways, thanks for all your replies. I'll try get quotes from DHL and SingPost but it's kinda hard coz I'm in Aus right now. And just to clarify, yes, I want to ship an amp from sG ---> Oz. You can't believe how much things are marked up over here.

Oh, and can someone tell me how the sale is at citymusic? Is it really a sale? like, they actually take prices down reasonably? or is it a "sale"? I'm looking at getting a line6 mm4, and an echo park.

You may also wish to check with the relevant authorities on whether there's any tax involved at the Aussie side.
