Indie/Alt-Rock/Pop-Punk Bands Wanted For Gig (A Proposal)

We would like to share this gig proposal. We are looking for bands who are keen to perform in a gig which is totally run by the bands themselves.

Date: One day between 17 to 19 June, 2010
Venue: Depending on the number of bands participating
Genre: Indie, Alternative Rock, Pop-Punk

What bands need to do?

Share cost of venue

• to be shared equally between all the participating bands
• will bear in mind cost factor when we are recce-ing for venue

Promotion and sell tickets

• Reason #1: To cover the cost of rental
• Reason #2: Bands can make some profit from ticket sales as reward for bands' hard work. (for example, bands earn $3 for every $8 ticket sold, or $2 for every $5 ticket sold, the remainder is used to cover costs)
• Reason #3: Part of the process of “paying your dues” before reaching superstardom???

Play and entertain

• Put on an entertaining show for the audience so that they will come for future performances

Sell or promote merchandise during gig

• If bands got merchandise like EPs etc, they can sell or promote their stuff there

Anyway, this is just a proposal, a work in progress. If got enough support, and not so many obstacles, hopefully the gig will take place.

Got some responses from a wide variety of bands.

Need to zoom in on a couple of genres.

Alternative or indie rock
Pop-punk
Acoustic rock

Or if you are a hard rock/rock kapak band, you don't mind doing a purely acoustic set (or at least half of the setlist is acoustic).
