Ibanez SW20

halo brudders!...any reviews on the Ibanez SW20 bass amp???

i tried the 65watts version before .. nice tone lah .. but i find it very fake ... it's like it doesn't really bring out your bass tone that well. If you want more detailed reviews you can ask superkicky .. he owns a ibanez SW35 ...

Haha yeah, the SW35 does colour your tone quite a bit. Adds quite a bit of lower-mids so if you're looking for that sort of thing I guess it's not too bad. It might be something inherent with an 8" speaker but I just use it for the headphone out now because I want my rig to sound the same everywhere I go. Seriously, get the Peavey Micro-bass. It's a really good little amp.

well .. you can always go for other brands also .. eh .. i got a Hiwatt .. nice little solid amp .. if you can find that brand get it .. ampeg or SWR .. or Trace Elliot .. oh man .. the dream amps .. *drools* ..

ampeg = yamaha
swr = sweelee sims drive

the new traces are ugly though... i much prefer the old ones :/

agreed .. well .. just so long as it functions as it is supposed to and sounds the way that we EQed to be then i'm cool with it .. =)

yeap btw btw... the drum shop beside g77 studio at excelsior apparently carries BA 112 and 115 for a pretty good price. feel free to ask them.

i had the sw30 i think. the second smallest one. speaker broke within 3 months. got the ashdown after eight instead. compared it to the microbass and prefered the tone of the ashdown.

I have the SW 65 one, got it from SL sale 50% off. Wanted to get the SW35 but well was a bit too late n only the SW 65 one is available tts y i got it. My impressions is that it seems a bit underpowered for a bass amp i guess, dont have that much oomph but well its meant to be a practice bass amp so gotta be a bit fair. The amp has a good tone to it great for funk. It emphasizes upper mids a lot. Not much on the bottom end, so its great for a funk (slap tone). Basic bass thump can be achieved by dimming the bass tone knob.
The eq on the bass is quite powerful i guess, although i prefer keeping it flat and control the eq on the bass. Usually i just balance btw the 2 J pickups w more vol on the pickup closer to the neck for more thick tone. W the amp setting on flat it gives a smooth warm tone.

Still gassing for an ampeg, hehehe mabbe get the ampeg portabass head n cab later onz,...

Why not try VOX? I have a T25, holds up pretty well. good for vintage/rock sounding bass sounds but my Kubicki runs thru it quite nicely as well for slapping.

A few folks selling the old Trace Elliot Boxer amps on Yahoo Auctions. Wld buyt them myself if i could find the excuse.

hm ..

what amps would you guys prefer? and why?

for me ... i'm happy with my Hiwatt Bulldog amp .. 30 watts .. the only thing i don't like is that the caging rattles when you push it hard .. plastic lah .. maybe it's just the resonance or what .. i haven't really tested it out ..

i'd like ampegs too .. i find their tone very full ...

yea yea! haha the t-25 sounds a lot larger than it actually is.

man.. if only i had the dough to cough up a ampeg svt6

1100W! =P

humm for me am saving up for the Ampeg portabass pb800 n the 2x12 cab or mabbe the new SWR working pro series one. So far in terms of tone i prefer ampeg amps tonalities, more punch n bottom end the SWR seems to have a more rich highs n upper mids. Its a matter of preference n taste. Hehehe,..
My ibanez SW still cuts it for home noodling for the time being, just want a nicer sounding amp to do my bass justice. A stay at home tone junkie and gear freak hahaha
