Ibanez & Jackson

Hey most of the guitars from these two look quite similar, the rg series especially... Whats the big difference between them eh? Most of the Jacksons are made in Japan i think, and are cheaper than Ibanez. So whats the big diff? Is there a big difference between them or anytyhing? Seems to me that Jackson is a somewhat of a "dying" brand..... =) just want to know why people stopped buying Jacksons. I currently have a Jackson DX-10 with Emg-81 bridge and Evo neck.....

Any people with jacksons? Thinking of getting an rg2570, will it be about the same, or totally different?

well ibanez workmanship is going up rather high esp for the higher range series.. some critics say ibanez workmanship is as good as or even better than gibson.. overall i think the two guitars are the same except that ibanez has better workmanship and well their wizards necks feel damn comfy in your hands

hoenstly i would'nt mind playing a jackson if i can get a decent one in singapore...first sweelee onli has 2-3 models left and they r not cheap...i rem te RR3 was retailing at onli 700++ at citymusic 2 yrs back

Jackson guitars kick ass! I had a JS-30 fitted with Dimarzios and it rocks! A pity i sold it away. I bought it in city music in 2002 for only $400. See, can u imagine how much Swee Lee actually overcharge? Anyway, i do agree it's generally much cheaper comparing to ibanez, especially ever since the decline of the "dinosaur rock era", but i find their quality is never compromised. And erm...some ppl find their headstock too "fierce" also

i'm really interested in getting a jackson in the near future..anyone has any idea which jacksons are left in singapore at sweelee & citymusic?

Go get the Randy Rhoads in G77 and change the pups, then you get a KICK ASS guitar which I would say would give any RG a run for its money... 8)

I think the main reason y Jackson's r now having a price hike in SG is maybe because they r under Fender rite now.. Plus we all know how Swee Lee sux~ Anyway I'm an RG man though I've played a Charvel which had a real great feel to it...

Yup Charvel are cool guitars...
esp the koa san dimas...

but i feel today`s jackson r kinda hollow sounding...

Personally, I'm an Ibanez person. I own an RG1550, and it's quite a beauty. The only faults I have with it are the neck. A little too thin for my taste, but its very fast. Also the paint chips easily ):

Just wanna make a suggestion, any of you guys tried out the Washburn CS780 or something like that? From what I've seen and heard, it's beautiful. Can't find it in Singapore, though.

the main diff between the Jackson & Ibanez guitars- neck (& of course, the headstock..). besides being thinner, the Ibanez necks are a little narrower. jacksons' are wide, very much like the PRS profile. Ibanez necks are thin compared to others in the market but be informed that there are other neck profiles offered by the manufacturer. the SZ models for instance offer a thicker depth neck/ 3 a-side tuner config & set-neck joint, a departure from the RG.

yea only reason i like jackson cuz of randy rhoads signature flying v with the polka dots and bow ties real kool

Hey Sub, dun quite agree on the thinness part leh... I've tried some old Yamaha RGX (1 of them is a 600+ series wif last few scallop frets) and they have even thinner and narrower necks than an Ibanez RG. Do agree to Jackson being generally wider, but the ones i tried B4 are as thin as a typical RG.
