Mid PU: DiMarzio Blue Velvet
Bridge PU: DiMarzio Super 3
Controls: 1 Volume / 1 Tone / 5-Way Lever
EXCELLENT CONDITION - 9/10
- There are a fair few little dings & marks throughout the body & headstock as shown in the pics - everything shown is everything that the naked eye can see. The top is extremely clean though it must be said.
- There are the classic Ibby neck pocket checks - very common on older specimens & affects absolutely nothing.
- There are also a few very shallow indents on the back of the neck - nothing that you can really feel when you're playing as they're very small.
- Knobs & pickups have been changed. I'm not entirely sure what pickups are in there at the moment, but they're DiMarzios & they sound wonderfully smooth & fluid providing articulate shredtones aplenty.
- None of this affects playability or functionality whatsoever - these are all purely cosmetic flaws - frets are 95%+ & hardware is mint
- Considering this is a 15+ year-old axe, it's in amazingly good nick!
This is one of the first J Customs ever built, & as such are becoming an ever-increasing rarity these days. They are revered & renkowned for their exquisite craftsmanship, spectacular playability & stellar tone - & for good reason:
- DAT FLAME MAPLE! Yum. You won't find too many tops more vibrant than this. Proper lighting really brings out the grain & the pics don't really do it the kid of justice it deserves in person.
- The neck on this thing is one of my all time favourites, slightly thicker than what you might find on todays J Customs, but no oh-so-ergonomic, comfortable & natural-feeling in your hands; & no less shreddable. It provides absolutely unrivalled playability that allows you to really express yourself & your articulations fully. You will quite literally play faster than ever before with this axe, no doubt about it.
- Fretwork is immaculate, as we have come to expect from top of the line Ibbys.
- I'm not a massive rosewood board kinda guy admittedly, but this one is truly gorgeous with a lovely deep chocolatey grain that I feel no aversion to running my hands all over.
- Thick & chunky yet defined & articulate, the tone provided by the mahoghany body/maple top/maple neck & DiMarzio combo is extremely organic & airy in nature. It really allows the natural attack of the woods to stand out in a way that you tend to only hear on truly well-constructed axes.
- & overall build quality is absolutely sublime - this is a J Custom after all.
- Set up with 11-54 Ernie Ball Beefy Slinkies in D Standard
- Comes with Ibanez Original Hard Shell Case & tools
YOUR SPECIAL PRICE: $1790 ONLY
THE BOTTOM LINE: If you want to experience the ultimate in silky smooth playability & absolute top notch craftsmanship - get your hands on this masterbuilt marvel now!
