Hi guys, thot i open a new thread on this ...

is there a review on the Ibanez GRG270 jumpstart package somewhere in here that i can read about ?

the reason i'm always asking on this cos i wud like to get it due to the lower price, the long neck (24 fret), the pickups looks fine (H-S-H) and it has a rose floyd trem, double locking ?

i've never had or use a rose floyd and double locking trem, i know it's gonna b a problem changing strings and tuning ... but no venture, no knowledge, rite ?

hope to have a more understanding on this and perhaps, once got use to it can buy a much more better 1 ... thank u, thank u all .... n\/m !!

hi there, first thing: more frets doesn't mean longer neck. my 22-fretted RX-40/ Joe Satriani's 22-fretted JS1200 have the same scale length as the GRG 270, which is 25.5". putting these guitars side by side, they would measure up equally from headstock tip to the body's tail end.

the GRG270 is an acceptable guitar if you don't use the ILT floating vibrato, due to tuning stability issues. the only GRG model with a reliable floating vibrato would be the GRG370 depicted below, which had gone one-up this year (2005) by featuring an EdgeIII unit, which comes default in the regular RG models such as the RG320/ 350/ 370. check if the RGR370 is offered in a packaged deal, it would make a better starter for you (or for anyone in general).

Sorry to trouble u Subvision, but i had more question, what should i look for when buying an Ibanez or any other brand guitar ?? budget about 500/-with 24fret, a H-H pups good enuff ? ... is it the feel, the sound, the pups, the trem or what ?? and what's this ILT floating vibrato thingy ? and that EdgeIII ?? izzit in term of playability, stability or just a model code ??

thank u very much.

i'm a big ibanez fan but i'm indifferent ot the vibrato equipped G-series by Ibanez. i'm only impressed by 2 models thusfar, the GAX-70 (discontinued) & the GSZ120- both are vibratoless.

if you are really keen on the vibrato equipped Ibanez guitars, save up a little more & get the RG320/ 350/ 370. these are great mid-priced units, they have less reliability issues as a whole, compared to the G-series offerings.

ibanez has several vibrato models on their guitars. the ILT version is the cheapest amongst them & are equipped on entry-level units. these aren't as reliable (tuning wise) as the others in the series. the top of the line floating vibrato currently for Ibanez is the Edge Pro unit, fitted in the Prestige series Ibanez & signature models such as the JEM, among others.

what Ibanez has to say about the Edge Pro: The Edge Pro is the lowest profile Ibanez tremolo ever. Provides longer string life, greater sustain and superior return to pitch.

thank u sub for the info ... thou i'm still not very sure about the trem, pups or vibrato thingy, i wud hafta read up more on the parts and electronics ... yes, i will save up more for a better 1 ...

wise move. when it comes to vibrato bridges, it's essential to acquire a reliable/ functional unit. why pay for something that makes you unhappy/ frustrated?
