ibanez gio or ltd guitar

i have an ibanez grg 170DX which is one of the gio series.... people said it was gud for beginners who wanted to play metal so i bought it......n what i feel is that it is actually a gud guitar but only for beginners...it does not have a jumbo fretted neck...which really pisses me off now.....but overall it is worth if you are more into some heavy stuff....

i have not played an ltd....so really cant comment about it...but if you are into something metal and rock.....like if you dont know which one would you prefer...i wud say that you should try out a yamaha pacifica series....it is cheap nd a really gud guitar for starters....

what's the jumbo fretted neck for? can you explain to me please?
sorry, i know nothing bout electric ._.

its just the thickness of the neck if im not wrong.(do correct me if i am)
base on your feel, see what you like.
But for beginners i think you shld go for a les paul.(a all rounded genre guitar i believe).

some stores i would recommend:
swee lee(having GSS)
Guitar 77(Mid year sale)
Davis
StandardValue

Jumbo Fretted neck simply means that the frets aint big, meaning it would be harder for beginners to press down the fret.I would suggest that you read some reviwes of the ltd and ibanez guitars that you are interested and try them out and get the one which you like the best.

From my experience:
- LTDs are better-made.
- Ibanez GIOs sound better.

At least to my experience, comparing my good ol' Ibanez GSA and an LTD VP-50 I tried at Ranking. Feel-wise, I liked my GSA better but then and again it's neck was maple and had a dull natural finish, whereas the VP-50 had a shiny black finish. So personal preference on that front...

G77 and Swee Lee don't have LTDs. Davis Guitar is the main dealer but Ranking also brings in a few LTDs. Davis is at Peninsula Plaza but watch out for the unfriendly old man. Ranking is opposite Swee Lee, beside Blackwood, at Bras Basah Complex.

actually i wanted to buy a gio in the past but a few reviews on the gio series and learnt of ppl who own gio complaining bout the quality control then i deceided that i should get an rg instead which i did so yea idk but personally i've a better impression of ltds i hope this helps :s
just 2c worth of my thoughts

Is there a reason why u're limited to ibanez and LTD? if not try to look at other brands .

if die die must get try out both guitars see which one u like btr.

ditto- if there's no brand name limitations, i'd urge you to consider other brand names. these 2 are highly recommended for beginners or otherwise (on grounds of playability & value-for-$$):

Ltd. that's what i started with it has wider frets and that way it's better for you fingers to stretch and when u change to another guitar stuff like bar chords will be like plain water to you.

P.S: Ltds are much cheaper and well build for beginners. Ibanez is more of intermediate kind of play it's just what i feel personally.

IMO, you shouldnt limit yourself to designs alone. Go try out a wide variety of guitars within ur budget and you may surprise yourself with which you prefer.

My personal experience was eyecandying flying V's * used to play alot of metal back then *

I got my hands on a Dean V and i realised that other than the design i didnt really enjoy the guitar. The active pickups were great but i just detested the thin D shaped neck.

I never really liked lespauls when i first started out now i love them and drool when i see a beautiful one. Firstly my preference for looks changed. Secondly i loved the fat necks they offered.

Go experiment with other brands before setting ur mind on a particular one and never look down on cheaper brands. As subversion stated those 2 budget brands are actually pretty good for their price.
