Ibanez BTB vs Ibanez ATK

Hi,

I'm looking for a 5-sting bass guitar and I'm narrowed down my choices (as of now) to two Ibanez models, the BTB and the ATK. Could anyone tell me what the pros and cons of both guitar models?

FYI, I play for church. We usually play gospel, and rock type of songs. I love Fender Jazz type of sounds (thick and funky ala Flea, Marcus Miller).

Mucho gracias.

if you like a fender jazz tone, why not get one instead of an ibanez? what's your budget?

the btb will give you a more modern hi-fi tone... probably more suited to gospel music for you than the atk which has a bit more aggressive, old-school sort of tone.

I like the BTB, two humbuckers, neck thru, rosewood fingerboard. Good range of modern tones, and should be able to coax a gd punchy sound out of it.

Our church has an ATK, just played it last week and found it quite different. bolt on, maple fingerboard, and a single triple coil. Brighter, slappier, metallic sound. Sounds a bit like a geddy lee or a musicman. I think the ATK would be closer to a Flea or Marcus Miller.

Thanks for the feedback.

Forgot to add other info: I'm from KL. My budget is RM2K ++ (SGD 900++ I think). My dream is to get a Fender Jazz or Music Man Sting Ray 5. Unfortunately, they both costs RM4500++ and RM8900++ here in KL :(.

My church is using an Ibanez ATB. Love the sound and the neck as it the size is perfect for my (small) fingers.

Again, thanks and would love more comments and feedback.

if you have small fingers, then don't go for the ATK.

the frets are quite big from what i know of.

but still, fingers are just a physical barrier.
can be broken with practice.
