HI guys,
i recently got a second hand Ibanez AF75TDG.
The problem is that all of the gold plated hardware has fading issues.

Is there any products that i could apply which can helps stop the colour from fading?
i keep my guitar in a gigbag with those anti-moisture gels...

also,im thinking of getting my guitar set-up but what does it do to my guitar?
restringing/polishing/lowering the action/changing string gauge??
how much wld it cost?

pls help me people as im still a noob at guitar stuff.
thanks:)

To answer to some of your problems, there's not really a definite way to prevent it from tarnishing, perhaps guitar polish will help but eventually it will still tarnish. An average set up would cost 40 to 70 and above depending on the condition. It's best if you send it to a guitar repair shop cause it can be quite tricky when dealing with the adjustment of the bridge and intonation. Hope this helps:)

guitar polish?
i need to stop the gold bigsby from fading as nt only does it look ugly,it also affects the smooth texture of the bigsby bar...

so a set up wld be adjustment of intonation and bridge?

Intonation would encompass making sure that the neck is straight and adjusting the bridge
This would ensure every fret would be of the correct pitch. You can also specify your desired string height from the set up.

Quite unfortunately, the fading of the gold is natural. There is a way to go about and repair it by going to a jewellery shop and asking the people there to replate it gold for you. But This honestly is Very expensive and your are better off buying a new bigsby.

There's really not much u can do with gold hardware. It a natural process to tarnish with very obvious results.
Being an ex owner of a AF75TDGIV, the guitar has a little more to do for a setup. if you are unsure of how to do it, its best to leave it to the professionals. try beez. he charges from $40 onwards depending on complexity of the job.
