My MIJ Boss CE-2 (of all pedals) got short-circuited this morning, i think, 'cus there is a burnt smell coming from it. Any ideas where in Singapore deals with such repairs quick, espcecially on these older units?

care to explain further on what you did before the burnt smell came along? Does it still work (does the LED still emit light?) ?

do confirm this 'out of order' status by testing the pedal with battery- it might be your adapter instead... ignore this if your pedal is definitely out of order...

The LED is dead. i still don't exactly know what caused it. I was re-arranging the pedals of my pedalboard and when I re-daisy chained it and switched it on, nothing happened. None of the pedals were on. I thought my power adapter died or something, but when I test my pedals one by one, it worked until I got to the CE-2. No sound, no LED - nothing. I opened it up, and I smelt something burning. My other Boss pedal on the board still work.

@subversion Yeah, tested it with a battery already - still dead.

Don't think so. I velcroed all the pedals in place first and i attached the daisies on them one by one. I keep 'em all tied underneath my pedaltrain all the time so I doubt any of it were sticking out. If its useful information, i bought a Godlyke 12-24v ISO pump for my MI Audio Crunchbox in front of the CE-2 yesterday.

Wow, interesting. Best if you bring it down to one of the shops to diagnose the problem. Let me know how it goes!

always switch off/remove power supply when rearranging. Ive shorted my share of pedals.

Nowadays i just use this

Heres another product with a torroidal transformer. However not using now as it doesn't provide enough juice for my needs. Not that im using lots of pedals but my tc nova repeater and tc modulator takes up about 300 Ma each which it simply doesn't provide.

Specs sheet:
Input: 120v-240v 50/60HzOutputs:
Six 9VDC 100mA regulated: (1-4 & 7-8) Two 9VDC 200mA regulated: (5-6)Fuse Protected: Yes. Dimensions: 6" (W) x 3.5" (D) x 1.6" (H)Shipping Weight: 2lbs.

Of course if you're on a budget, daisy chains are still the most cost effective and it doesn't take up board space. Both the godlyke and the one spot come highly recommended. However if you're board consists of pedals with $1000+ worth of value which many of us have. You're much better off owning one of these(mxr, bbe). Also no issues using either pedal internationally unlike the voodoo labs pedal power which comes only in either 120v or 230v versions.

Ebay prices: bbe around S$150 with shipping
mxr around S$380 with shipping

Warning if you do decide to purchase one of these do read the manual first. They usually ship with settings set to 110v.

Thanks for all your suggestions for what power supply that would be better to use instead of my Godlyke. I kinda worried of my chorus right now. I called Sound Alchemy yesterday and it didn't sound too good. It seems that there is a good chance that I might lose this pedal :\. Any ideas what other chorus pedals sounds just as good as the MIJ CE-2? Just wanna know what to look out for if its beyond repair, or, if there is a damn good repair shop in Singapore?

Alright, I might visit them sometime, maybe the end of the week, or possibly in a week's time, 'cos I have a lot of work to do.

By any chance do they charge a consultation fee or something, you know, just to see what's wrong with it? I know Sound Alchemy does.I don't want them to look at it, tell em its good as junk and charge me for it.

Ahh dang it... I guess your next best bet would be to try guitar connection. They handle vintage pedals as well besides guitars, so they should be quite sensitive to your predicament...

Alright, I'll try those guys again later. Tried calling them yesterday but their phone line was pretty much engaged for the entire day.

Called GC on the phone. The guy sounds like he knows what happened to it. Definitely will be heading down and they are not charging me for letting them take a look at it.

if he can't can always go to randolf. a bit pricey but he does a damn good job. just got my cs-3 repaired and ge-7 modded by him
