is it okay to compose original music than play covers? i love to write music but when it comes to playing covers..i am a slow learner..i also can't to focus/concentrate more on playing covers..i would love play a full cover song..help?

I think most people are the opposite. I personally started out with playing covers (after all, all we are doing is reading tabs and playing along, should be really simple once you get the technique down). After getting sick of playing covers, i want to write my own songs but I have no clue where to begin. So I actually envy your talent. Hmm.. food for thought

1st thing 1st, do you like the covers that you are playing?
better be yes if not this method is not going to work lol.

Here's how u think, when practising think of it as a song u wrote, play it as if u wrote the song apprciate the notes , note by note how it connects from 1 to another, have ownership of the song. That's how u think when u play covers.

I'm not trying to be mean or something but probably you have short attention span. Before you think I'm being sarcastic or mean, my friend is actually like that. He's a great guitar player but he has short attention span, sometimes he'll play the song halfway and then stop playing.

So you'd have to dedicate your attention if you want to learn the song. And I agree with Likui, you need to like the song you wanna learn otherwise you won't bother. Unless the song is very technical and you wanna achieve a certain level of technicality, but that'd also mean you want to reach a certain level by playing that song so it should lengthen your attention span.
