Hey guys,
I wanted to buy a drum set.But my dad disallow of me buying as he is afraid it might disturb our neighbours(Im living in a landed property at the west). So guys with drum sets at home,do you have such problems?

So my mom suggest me to buy a electric drum set,but i know the 'feel' won't be as good as the real drum set.

I would like to hear from people with real drumsets at home have any problems? & the solution to it .

Hope to hear from you.

Cheers~

hi there, firstly please don't post the same thread all over the forum, and also, use the search function, this topic has been discussed many times.
(:

hello,
there's no need to repeat your posts on EVERY drum section forum. this would be considered spamming already alright.
okay, I'll just give my opinions regarding your question and hopefully this will help.
1st off your question have already been discussed many times throughout this forum and you can find your answer using the search form located on the left sidebar. check this post
anyway, you'll need to consider about the people in your family first. Do they prefer quiet/silent moments very often, will they feel irritated or disrupted by acoustic drums? try blasting your speakers -> this is roughly a moderate drum volume level.

if they do mind... you can either buy acoustic drums and implement this method (click here) to tackle sound problems. Otherwise get an electronic drums.

If your family don't mind, look around your neighbourhood. What kind of house are you living? How close are your neighbours? What are their sleeping hours and working hours.

Lastly, from my experience, if you do have sound constraints ->cannot drum out loud. If you play speed, you may want to get an electronic kit with toms properly spaced out like an acoustic because you may naturally play louder when faster. Acoustic kits are good especially if you want to train playing very soft. Well of course there are many reasons which I won't elaborate here.

Hope this helps

"So guys with drum sets at home,do you have such problems?"

- No.

I'd rather be able to practice on a real kit & cymbals and have to practice self-control so that my neighbours aren't disturbed, than have an electronic kit and be able to play as loud as I want (thru headphones).

For your childish act of spamming EVERY section in the drums as well as TWO more extra threads in the buy/sell thread, here's my answer:
Use the bloody search function and/or go through the past threads. If I don't need to open a thread about this problem, I don't see the need for you to do so.

Sorry.

Sorry guys.
I didnt mean to spam,im just 'desperate' to find a way or solution.
I hope by doing so will get faster results :x
Didnt expect it affected some of you :l

What kind of landed? If bungalow then you will have practically no problem, just dont play late at night. If terrace or semi-d, depends on whether your room is directly seperated from your neighbour's by a wall. And if it is, see if the wall is solid. A solid wall can block even the loudest drum whacks.

When I still had my kit, I asked my dad to whack as hard as he could while i went to my neighbour's house, whose room is directly linked to mine through a thick solid wall. Could hardly hear a thing. So yea depends on your house conditions but I think it really shouldn't be a problem.

BUT! I would strongly advise you to get a good ranged electronic set. That way even late at night u can play without disturbing your family. The reason why I sold my acoustic kit after a year was precisely this reason.

the fastest result would be to use the search function and read the huge number of threads that answer your question.
by posting a thread, you still have to wait for the results (:

Please ignore the thread in this section and only respond to the one in the "how to - drums" section, as that is the most appropriate. No point bumping multiple threads up.

i second that. oh and do try RudimentalDrummer's guide to muffling your drumset. it does work. and it's cheap too. AND you get to explore the insides of your drumset.

Hi there, I am new here as well. I am selling my HD 1 for acoustic set. U might wanna consider electric drums as a start.
