I can't tune my lighter gauge strings

Hi all.

I have a really old guitar, its a classical guitar but when it was given to me, it came with steel strings. So all these while, I have been using streel strings. Before this, I was using heavier gauge strings, if I remember correctly, the low E was a "47".

Seeing its a classical guitar, I decided to try nylon strings. Went with d'addario folk nylon, nylon strings with ball ends. As oppose to the original low E, this one is a "45". Then, upon installation:

- The low E can be tuned - according to my electronic tuner. but the tension is LOOSE as hell. Loose enough to the point I can pull and put a couple of fingers under it. So when I tighten it, the tuner slowly show it leaning towards 5A, sometimes 3G and when it's really tight, 2B.

It's the same with other strings. Can be tuned to what its supposed to be, but loose as hell and when tuned tighter, becomes another pitch.

Oh yeah.. this happens before long ago when I tried using lighter gauge steel strings. Couldn't tune it to save my life. When I went for the heavier gauge, tuning was easy and tension was fine.... *confused*

Err i think its the character of the classical guitar itself? Maybe u're not used to it, hey u could clarify with other classical guitars.

Point is, if its playable, its good enough.
