I was planing to buy an acoustic guitar coz I was playing classic guitar before (around 1 month).
I dun know how to play chord.
Should I abandon the classic guitar? or how to start playing acoustic guitar?
Can someone here give me some suggestions ?
Thanks

www.justinguitar.com - this website is a very useful source to learn guitar.

also go to a search engine like yahoo. do an image search for "guitar chord chart". those are basics.

im sure these are easy enough.

dont abandon it unless u really hate it or there's something wrong with it.

and what had u been playing for the 1month?

I think he meant strum. There're some strumming patterns. Go look up on YouTube, they got some really good beginner guitar videos to get you started. And don't abandon classical, it'll help if you wanna play fingerstyle acoustic.

Edit:
Why not build up your principles from there first before moving to acoustic?

Sorry either way.

You shouldn't give up on your classical guitar, that's what I'd think but others may beg to differ. Once you know basic chord shapes and strumming patterns, then maybe try some classical piece. Who knows, you might take classical as your primary guitar-type.

Chords are pretty easy to learn, i learnt chords using this small booklet called "Ernie Ball: A Beginners Guide" or something along those lines. I bought it from Novelty Music when i bought my acoustic guitar. There are also plenty of resources online to learn basic chord shapes. I would think guitars are one of the more easier instruments to pick up but harder to master. Nonetheless its highly beneficial in many ways and quite relaxing like all other instruments are; once you become proficient at it, and the journey itself is highly rewarding.

Yup, suggest you stick to your classical guitar first and give yourself more time before switching to an acoustic or electric.
