Humming issues

Hi people, i have a situation here. I do hope this is the correct place for me to post this.

I have just acquired a Blackheart little giant half stack on Saturday and i've been having this humming coming from the amp as late.

After plugging it through a G-2 Distortion or either, a TL-2 Metal distortion, the humming becomes increasing loud. I do know that it is common to get this kind of sounds when you are using distortion, however, this one is freaking terrible. I can't even hear what I'm playing.

I just want to ask if,

1) Will grounding the amp from a 2pin to a 3pin help a lot?

2) I have two planetwaves cables with one shielded side plug. Do these go into the amp, and the other, into the first pedal from the guitar?

3) Are there any pedals to help to reduce sounds like these?

4) Will the cable connecting from the head to cab affect this?

Thanks for reading. Hopefully, someone will be able to help with this.

If you have any alternatives to solve this problem, feel free to share. :)

Thanks again.

Are you using a strat/tele-like guitar? In short, are your pickups Singles?

Another factor would be that you've positioned your amp near a fridge, or maybe near under a Flo tube.

Cheers.

changing to a 3 pin plug is also for your safety

You can use a noise gate to reduce hum but get the plug changed first.

heh..finally eh? :)

1) changing your 2 pin plug to a 3 pin helps.

2) your single coils contribute to that as well

3) could be your tubes as well... worn out/problem tubes cause humming,hissing...

4) noise gate pedal helps to reduce/cut off..

hope this helps.. :)

Hi thanks for your reply, Does being near a TV , dvd player etc; affects it?

My guitar is a Les Paul. Humbucker. :)

To the rest: Thanks for your answers too. I will get it changed than!

To Ciki: Yeah finally got it! Anyway, how to check if there are tube issues ? I think this might be the problem.

Try changing to 3pin plug first.

If noise still persist, move your setup (amp/git/cable/pedals) to a location where you think has the least electrical appliances around. Yes, sometimes TVs DVD players etc do contribute to the presence of EMF signals.

If that doesn't help, i think it's time to check the tubes out.

Hope that helps :)

Cheers.

Alright! Thanks again for the information.

You have been extremely helpful!

Will be changing the pin first and see how it goes. :)
